A stunning, modern, self-contained lodge in the grounds of a private house in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lodge is a perfect base for mountain biking, road biking, walking, hiking, bird watching and exploring villages in the surrounding area. The Lodge is a self-contained, detached space with a dedicated off-road parking space and private entrance. It has a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, American style fridge/freezer and washing machine/tumble dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self-catering holiday including a garlic press! We have also provided picnic wear, cool bag, ice blocks and a picnic blanket. In addition we provide all cleaning materials including washing up liquid, laundry tablets, fabric softener, antibacterial spray, floor cleaner, mop and bucket, dishwasher tablets, dishwasher salt and rinse aid. As a result of the pandemic we also supply our guests with antibacterial wipes, hand sanitiser and disposable gloves. Additional small appliances include kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, microwave, iron, vacuum cleaner and hair dryer For those guests bringing infants we can supply a high chair, travel cot, plastic plates, bowls and cutlery. For convenience we provide salt, pepper, cooking oil, tomato ketchup, salad cream, brown sauce, English mustard, kitchen roll, tea, instant coffee, ground coffee, sugar, cling film, foil and ziplock bags. If required we are more than happy to provide a welcome pack (milk, bread, butter etc), please contact us at least 5 days prior to your arrival with a list of your requirements. Payment can be made on arrival. The living and dining area is open plan with double French doors opening onto the garden with a double sofa bed, dining table seating six, a three seater sofa and an armchair. The bathroom has a double size shower and is accessed via the bedroom. We provide shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lavatory paper. The bedroom is equipped with a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and can be set up either with two single beds or one super king. The lodge has a large flatscreen TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky (including Sky Sports) and 200Mb broadband. There's a selection of board games, cards and books available and a guest information folder containing details of shops, pubs, restaurants, parking, taxis, trains etc. There are also local guides and leaflets on walks and recommended days out. We have two very friendly dogs who have the run of the garden but are not allowed in The Lodge. Guests have the use of a private patio with a table and four chairs. We also provide a laundry airer and outside rotary washing line for guests to use. The Lodge is located at the bottom of the rear garden of the main house. Guests can contact us by phone at any time or we are available onsite if they prefer to talk to us face-to-face. The Lodge is located approximately 1 mile from the picturesque village of Wendover. Weston Turville Reservoir is a short walk and is a wonderful oasis of water, woods and wildlife. There is access to the perimeter path around the reservoir from World's End Lane and Halton Lane. The reservoir is home to Aylesbury Sailing Club, which can be accessed on the same path. Wendover is 35 miles north west of London and 5 miles south east of Aylesbury on the direct rail route from Aylesbury to London Marylebone and with easy road access. As well as the Ridgeway National Trail that passes down the main High Street, there are 33 miles of public rights of way and bridleways criss-crossing the parish. These paths will take you over the open chalk downland of Coombe Hill with its impressive monument to the local men who died in the Boer War, to the pretty hamlet of Dunsmore in the spring where you can enjoy the carpet of bluebells, and through the shaded woods on to Boddington Hill. Here you can enjoy specially prepared cycle routes, all ability walks and barbecue sites, as well as play areas for the children. Don't miss out on visiting Wendover Woods where you can visit their Cafe in the Woods, take part in their fitness trail and swing through the tree tops with Go Ape. Wendover is situated at the terminus of the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal. Disused for over a century, the arm is in the process of being restored by the Wendover Arm Trust. Remote and rural for almost all its length, the canal attracts much local wildlife. The high street offers boutique clothes shops and quaint antique shops and there are a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes that are perfect for anything from a bite to eat to a special dinner. There is an outdoor swimming pool in the garden by the main house which is not available for use by guests. It has no cover or safety fence and for this reason we cannot accommodate children between the ages of 2 and 12 years due to pool safety issues.
