Cozy Cabins in the Woods
Two adorable authentic wood cabins surrounded by a combination of open spaces and pristine forest views. The cabins are rented as a unit, lovingly called “Bob” and “The Dollhouse.” Both cabins are built as an open loft concept within an alpine roof, sitting on 3/4 of an acre of private yard space. In Bob, the larger cabin, there is a queen and single bed in the upstairs loft. There are also two sleeping mats should you require more room for sleeping. On the ground floor, Bob houses a fully equipped kitchen (with full sized fridge, full stove, dishwasher, doube enamel sinks, coffe maker, toaster, slow cooker, and all the necessary pots and utensils), the living room space and entertainment center (with a big screen TV, a luxury loveseat, and a bar with several stools), and a bathroom (equipped with a shower, indoor toilet and sink). Bob’s South facing patio is furnished with a cozy sitting area. The Dollhouse, the smaller cabin, has a queen bed upstairs, and downstairs a very comfortble pull-out Sealy couch. It has it’s own bathroom (with shower, toilet, sink), a small breakfast table area and a lovely area to prepare light cusine with mini fridge, minimal kitchen supplies. The Dollhouse patio is uncovered and open to the sun with outdoor tables and chairs and a BBQ grill. In 1994, these cabins were conceived using leftover trees from various BC logging sites. They received the award for Best Environmental use of wood in the 94 Pacific National Exhibition. BEDDING/TOWELS: Bedding is provided for all the permanent beds. We do allow extra guests for a supplementary charge but they need to bring their own bedding. We supply bathroom towels, but not beach towels. WATER: It’s recommended to bring your own drinking water, but there is a spring water machine at Fords Cove and an oxygenated water machine in the town hub for refills. We ask our guests to practice water conservation. AIR: Both cabins have ceiling fans, and our airy windows open on both floors for a beautiful indoor breeze. LIGHTING: The Dollhouse has 4 skylights that let in plenty of warm, natural light. Bob has a softer, subtle light, and is very cool during the day. There are two solar powered security lights outside, a string of warm rope lights strung along both patios, and inside there is a variety of lamps and overhead lighting options. INTERNET: The cabins have their own private wifi network, not shared by anyone, and the entertainment center has a smart, flatscreen TV where you can login to your own streaming accounts. PARKING: The cabins have a private driveway with plenty of parking. FERRY INFO: Ferries are all first come first serve to the islands from Buckley Bay. , and you often have to wait in line before laoding. They arrive every hour and the full schedule can be found on the BC Ferry website. You are welcome to enjoy the grassy yard spaces that surround the cabins. There’s also a spiritual cedar Grover forest surrounding the cabins that guests free to use for meditation or nature strolls. I will be there to introduce you to the cabins and give you updates and details about your stay. The cabins are conveniently located on the North end of the island, a ten minute walk to the biweekly farmer’s market (Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30am-2pm) and the famous Hornby Hall where locals exhibit their art. The Hornby Bank, Police Station and future Hornby arts center are just 500 meters down the road. The cabins are a 15 minute walk to Grassy Point, the famous sunset beach of Hornby Island. The eclectic co-op area of the island is a 10 minute drive, or 30 minutes by foot and can be accessed on the wonderful walking path that Hornby recently introduced. Numerous beaches, and nature hikes, are easy to access by car or bike. September and October are beautiful months to experience our super downhill tracts for off road biking. There’s a free bus on Hornby with a schedule, biking is extremely encouraged here, there is a beautiful walking path that goes to the town hub, or you are welcome to drive.
