Quiet retreat in the chestnut
A house for all seasons carefully restored in the panorama of mountains and chestnut trees. The house of about 150 square meter - 1600 square feet - enjoys a 360 ° panoramic view of the woods and the Apennines and for this reason in 1943 it was the seat of the allied command . On the ground floor the living room with fireplace and garden, on the 1st floor the bedrooms. The available garden is inserted in an orchard with tree-lined terraces. It is equipped with a brick oven and barbecue. The house enjoys a panoramic view of the woods and the Apennines. The ground floor is a single large vaulted living room with fireplace and open kitchen, which leads to the garden. The usable part of the garden, in an orchard with tree-lined terraces, is partly paved and equipped with a barbecue and covered oven and a small porch. On this level there is a full bathroom with bathtub. On the upper level in the entrance there is a French sofa bed then a sitting area which gives access to the bathroom with shower and to the two bedrooms, a passer-by with two single beds and a double bedroom. The other parts of the building are not accessible and usable but are not occupied by other guests. The house accommodates 4 people with great comfort. It is possible to arrange the addition of other guests with accommodation in a double sofa bed on the ground floor and French sofa bed on the first floor. The particular typology of the house and site did not allow the adoption of devices for overcoming architectural barriers. For the disabled, only the ground floor is accessible by passing two steps and one of the garden levels by passing five steps. A second entrance / exit to an entrance hall and a tree-lined area, common with another neighboring owner, can only be used for emergency reasons. Some "containers" are reserved for the effects of the owners who use it in the free periods. The stretch of road to get home is narrow and there is no parking; we recommend parking at the church of the Santuario Maria SS della Libera and walking 50 meters. Guests will be greeted by the owner or his delegate. The owner will not be present in the house during your stay. The center of Conca can be reached walking in 5 minutes. We are in an area that offers natural and unspoilt landscapes - forests, vineyards, waterfalls and hot springs - wineries and farms and important archaeological, historical and artistic elements of interest. Among the sites closer, the Roman theater of Sessa Aurunca with its medieval town center, which hosts a music festival and the monumental abbey of Montecassino. During the harvest and the harvesting of chestnuts in the area there are numerous food and wine events. The nearest beach (37 km / 50mn) is the Pineta Baia Domitia. Scauri and Formia coastal areas can be reached in an hour's drive along the river Garigliano and Suio natural spa; about an hour on the motorway you can reach Gaeta, Terracina, Fondi and the oasis of Ninfa. From Formia they can easily reach the Pontine islands. From Roccamonfina depart many paths through the park of the same name extinct volcano. This land is rich in history surrounded by: the areas with the Roman remains of Capua, Santa Maria Capuavetere and Sant'Angelo in Formis, Sessa Aurunca and Minturnae; the monastic heritage of the Abbeys of Casamari, Fossanova, Montecassino, St. Magnus of Funds, Sant'Angelo in Formis Valvisciolo, and Protocenobio of San Sebastian; the Bourbon sites of Caserta, Casertavecchia, Carditello and the hanging bridge on the Garigliano; the Risorgimento at Teano and last conflict locations of the lines Bernhardt and Gustav as Montecassino, Mignano Montelungo, with his impressive war memorial, and the village of San Pietro in fine war gold medal. The area also offers a wide network of beautiful trails for walkers in the nature. The holiday is characterized as a clear separation from the urban dimension. It offers a pleasant stay in any season because it is equipped with heating.
