The uniquely quirky Igluhut (we call it The Hobbit House) is the perfect romantic getaway for couples wanting a secluded and romantic weekend getaway, countryside break or even a mini-moon. Connect with the great outdoors. Tucked into its own Devon garden on the edge of wild flower meadows and woodland - you are a half hour walk (on footpaths) to the famous eateries and feasting houses of Ottery St Mary and Devon's Jurassic coast beaches are a 20 minute drive. Easy from M5/J29 and A30. You will fall in love with this uniquely crafted and super insulated (and heated) Igluhut. It has lush curved walls and the whole thing is clad in gorgeous wooden shingle tiles. After arriving, follow the signs and walk about 80 m past the orchard and woodland fringes to your own little gated garden where The Hobbit House is located facing the woods and meadows. You can wander through the glades and find a spot to enjoy a drink - and then return to eat on the decked area in front. Perfect for couples to share special time together. There is variable wifi - hotspotting from your phone is the most reliable way to use a lap top - but we're hoping you will want a digital switch off! There is a lot more to do! The whole Igluhut 'Hobbit House' is for you. It has its own entrance and garden area and is accessed through its own dedicated garden gate. Just a few metres walk (past the orchard) from the car parking area The Hobbit House has its own entrance and garden area in a secret tree - fenced ledge about 40m from the farmhouse. It is not overlooked at all and has open views of woodland fringes and meadows. You'll want to make the most of your secret location in the Devon countryside. Talking, reading, snoozing or dreaming . . . There are lots of walks that you can do in the countryside around the lane and when your energy levels allow, take a 30 minute walk to Ottery St Mary (on footpaths) and eat in The Rusty Pig feasting house or Lamb and Flag pub. Walk over the hill to The Pig in Gittisham or bring your bike and cycle to one of the stunning Devon beaches - the Jurassic coast with stunning cliffs is very close! A car is advised but not essential - you can cycle from Feniton or Honiton stations and there are lovely walks and trails from the entrance - plus of course buses (4 and 4A) from the end of the lane (0.9km) to Exeter, Honiton and Axminster. There is plenty of space to park your car on the hard standing near the main gate off the lane. From there, it is about an 80m walk to The Hobbit House. Just follow the signs that take you on a mown track between the orchard and woodland. The wifi is terrible (autumn 20)! We advise that you plan for a digital detox tho' if you are desperate, you cnan choose to hot spot a laptop from your phone (giffgaff is good). You will need to walk on a grass track for about 50m from the parking area - and if it's wet, you may need your wellies or walking boots.
