Cosy chalet in wooded valley on Ski/Hike Centre

Lopusna Lodge is a lovely rustic recreational chalet set in a tranquil forested valley, in walking distance of Lopusna Dolina ski centre; with cycling & hiking amongst the woods, hills & flower meadows in the summer months. There is gas central heating, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and lounge with woodburner. The main bedroom has a small balcony to enjoy the sights & sounds. There is a wooden table & bench next to a fire pit in our grassed area by the cottage to enjoy the summer evenings. In the lounge, there is a comfortable pull down sofa that will sleep two more people if necessary. In the winter months one basket of logs is provided for your stay. Local fuel stations often sell fire wood if you require more supplies. We now also have a bunk bed on the landing. All bedding - sheets, duvets and pillows are provided and the beds are made up ready for you. Towels are also provided. There are 4 cycles (2 mens, 2 ladies) free for you to use. The bike lock code is 3107. We have no TV reception but there is a dvd and cd player for you to use. We have a variety of films, but you are of course welcome to bring your own. The bedrooms are accessed by a spiral stair case. Lopusna Dolina is a small local ski centre and it has a fully equipped rental shop for skis and snowboards. It is also a centre for a good ski school and good value one to one instructors. It is an easy drive down the well maintained motorway for Slovakia's largest ski resort Jasna; the charming High Tatra resorts of Tatranska Lomnica and Strbska Pleso are even closer. There are a many other ski resorts of various sizes waiting to be discovered all over the High and Low Tatras. If you visit in the Spring, before the grass is cut for hay (late June), the meadow beside the cottage is full of wild flowers. You can walk out into the hills from the door or head off to the High or Low Tatras for your hike, it is up to you! The High Tatras are spectacular, while the beautiful Low Tatras are extensive and less busy, often you will be able to walk in solitude, with more chance to see the wonderful wildlife that frequents this area. The walking trails and cycle routes are very well marked. Also, there are many good rivers and lakes for fishing. Please make yourself feel at home, relax and enjoy. The washing machine can be used if you stay for three or more nights. There are clothes driers, and a washing line on the balcony. We can be contacted by mobile phone if you have any difficulties. We are happy to provide guests with as much information as we can to help them make the most of their stay. There is a detailed guide in the cottage; once booked we are happy to advise on activities, restaurants and attractions in the High and Low Tatras. We are perfectly located so that nature is just outside the door. However modern conveniences are deceptively close - Svit is 3 km away and Poprad 10 km. A taxi to Poprad is around 8 Euros, Svit 3 - 4 Euros. 300m away there is a friendly cafe at the Lopusna Dolina ski centre, and a refurbished hotel. Lucivna is about a pleasant 25 minute walk on a grassy track, here there is a good restaurant 'Kastiel'. Svit has all that you require from a town. We like the riverside bars and Koliba. Also Buntavar, a brewery pub, and Spolcentrum a very good restaurant and sports centre with indoor tennis, gym etc. Poprad is a lovely vibrant town with new restaurants, cafes, bars, a new shopping mall 'Forum Poprad' and the superb thermal pools at Aqua City. JM's cocktail bar is unmissable! Lahodnosti does excellent vegan food. There are many good restaurants in the area. Frequent, smart and inexpensive electric trains run from Poprad to the High Tatra resorts for skiing and hiking or just enjoying the mountain air. The Humno bar at Tatranska Lomnica is another top restaurant / bar. From Svit it is also very easy to visit the Low Tatras either by bus or by car. Jasna is 40 minutes away and is the biggest ski centre in Slovakia. There are endless hiking opportunities in the Low Tatras. Also easily accessible is the marvellous Slovak Paradise National Park, Spis Castle, the Unesco walled town Levoca, rafting at Pieniny National Park amongst many other sights. Parking by the cottage unless it is deep snow, in which case park by the ski centre car park. Taxis are 24 hour and good value, excellent buses and trains from Svit and Poprad are frequent and go to all parts far and wide! Poprad international airport is a 10 minute drive away (serviced by wizzair from London-Luton.) Reliable and good value car hire is available from the airport and Poprad. Please remember to bring a torch with you - there are no street lights here! Also a torch is helpful to read the key box code. Despite being tucked into a valley with trees and woods all around most people are able to get a mobile signal (with good mobile data). However we have no TV, phone or internet connection - perfect if you want to totally relax in nature!
