First Class accommodation nestled in the heart of East Sussex Located on the beautiful Kent and East Sussex border in Northiam, the carriages provide a fantastic base for you to explore the local countryside and coast, with attractions and activities to suit everyone. The carriages are situated within Northiam Steam Railway Station, a working station on the Kent and East Sussex steam railway line. You don't even need to leave the carriages to get the full railway experience as the steam trains will pull up at the station just 20 ft away! Its main role was a safety brake for goods trains, additionally a guard was required to travel at the rear of every train to ensure that no goods wagons were left behind! Now lovingly converted, the 'TOAD' benefits from being fully insulated, double glazed and heated, en-suite WC and shower facilities, double bedroom, fitted kitchen and dining area, Freesat TV and an elevated balcony just 20ft away from the station platform. The fully glazed kitchen/diner and balcony area gives a panoramic view of the station platform and surrounding Rother Valley. The 'TOAD' sleeps 2 with allocated parking directly outside. No smoking. Seafronts A sandy beach with water sports and a great beach for families. Hastings Beach and Pier is a pebble beach with all the seaside attractions you could hope for. You can also take your dog on parts of the beach all year round! Rye Harbour is great for a more historical coastal trip. All of these beaches are 12 miles or less away from the carriage. Hastings being the largest of all 3 towns with a large shopping centre and multiple supermarkets. Historic Attractions Great Dixter House and Gardens located just 1.5 miles for Northiam Station. Bodiam Castle which you can visit on the steam train or is a 5 minute drive from Northiam. Battle Abbey in Battle 12 miles away. Hastings Smugglers Adventure,Castle and Shipwreck Museum in Hastings Old Town 12 miles away. Sissinghurst Castle which is in Kent 10 miles away.
