호랑가시나무언덕 게스트하우스는 70여년 전에 건축 된 선교사 사택을 리모델링한 것으로 건물 자체가 근대역사문화유산의 가치가 있다. 게스트하우스가 있는 양림동은 근대역사문화마을로 유명하며 광주를 대표하는 여행지로서 핫 스팟들이 모여 있어 드라마와 영화 촬영지로 각광 받고 있다. 주요 역사문화유적들인 우월순 선교사사택(10m), 선교사묘역(5분), 이장우가옥(5분), 오웬기념각(5분), 윈스보로우홀(5분) 등이 도보 10분 거리에 위치해 있으며 호랑가시나무아트폴리곤,이이남스튜디오가 3분 거리에 있다. 숲이 울창한 양림산 자락에 위치해 공기가 맑고 조용하며 아름다운 주변 경관을 자랑한다. 특히 우리나라에서 가장 큰 호랑가시나무와 백일홍, 선교사들이 심은 알래스카 흑호두 나무와, 피칸, 나무들이 어울려 한국에서 보기 힘든 자연 경관을 가지고 있다. 또한 국립아시아문화전당, 남광주시장,동명동이 근거리에 위치해 있다. 도보로 10분에서 30분, 대중교통 10분 내외 소요된다. 게스트하우스 주변에 산책로가 마련되어 있어 산책하시기에 좋습니다. 2층에 넓은 테라스가 있어서 주변 자연경관을 감상 하실 수 있습니다.
