Large 4 bedroom villa, sleeps 6, ocean views from every room, sunbathe or lie on hammocks under a canopy of coconut trees, enjoy fresh coconuts from our trees, home-cooked meals, breezy weather, star-lit skies, and a secluded beach. Visit the Murud fish market for fresh catch, explore Creole ruins at Revdanda fort (20 mins drive), or rent cycles or banana boats and explore Nandgaon village. Ideal for families, couples, or reunions. Available for private rental with a cook, cleaner, gardener. Guests will be able to wander the full 1 acre property, and use all the facilities. We recommend setting up the chairs on the grassy lawn and spending the day time there. I do not live on-site, but am only a phone call away. Vijaya our caretaker will be available during the hours of 8AM and 4PM and will attend to your needs. She speaks hindi and marathi, but if you have any communication issues feel free to call me directly. The village of Nandgaon is a rural fishing community in the state of Maharashtra, about halfway between the fortified city of Revdanda (which you pass if driving from Mumbai) and the port city of Murud-Janjira (which is 15-20km ahead). Nandgaon is a beautiful and typical konkani village with narrow alleys lined with coconut trees and short roads leading to the beach. While you can buy basic supplies from some of the shops, you won't find a lot of restaurants in the area. Most people walk or cycle through its winding streets. The completely secluded beach of Nandgaon is lined with coconut trees and Mangroves (Suru). The sand is greyish clay, and the water is gentle during the October to May season. Evenings during the winter time can get chilly, while the monsoon has an aura of thunder, lightning and an ever present breeze that shakes the coconut trees and washes away the dust from summer. About 10 km ahead of Nandgaon is the more populated town of Murud which hosts the impressive and historical fort of Janjira, completely surrounded by water. The fort of Janjira on the sea is the only one of its kind. Janjira Jal-Durg ("sea fort") was constructed by Malik Ambar, an Abyssinian minister in the service of the Sultan of Ahmednagar, who belonged to the Nizamshahi dynasty. The fort, built at the end of the 17th century, is almost entirely intact today. During its heyday the island fort boasted having 572 cannons. Visitors can gain access to the Janjira fort from Rajapuri, a small village on the coast. After a short ride in a small boat, one can enter the fort through the main entrance and enjoy a 1-2 hour visit before returning by boat to the mainland for a meal in one of the many restaurants in Murud. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Vegetarian and non vegetarian meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner (3 meals) - are available on site for 650 - 800 per person per day.
