THE DRIVE INTO OBI OBI - As you wind your way into Obi Obi, there's a true sense of discovering a secret world in this stunning rural valley. And, so it is - the area was once considered part of the Bunya Mountains, a meeting place of Aboriginal tribes for the traditional annual harvest & feasting of Bunya Nuts. Obi Obi Homestead borders Obi Obi Creek, the western side of Kondalilla Falls National Park & Kirbys Rd Environment Park. The farmhouse is easily located on Obi Obi Homestead. As you head slowly up the tree lined concrete driveway to the farmhouse, lookout for well camouflaged wallabies or maybe a wandering cow. At the top, majestic Bunya & Hoop pine trees stand tall like sentries guarding the property. It's time now to let go of the day's stresses & allow yourself to be in the moment. You'll be warmly greeted by our down to earth hosts, who will assist you with your luggage, escort you to your room & briefly orientate you around the farmhouse. You'll then be left to settle in, hopefully in time to enjoy a drink as you witness a stunning sunset followed by a sky filled starry night. Complete your day by booking an in-house massage, or maybe an opportunity to hand feed some farm animals or walk with the goats. THE FARMHOUSE- 7 bedrooms offering spacious living areas to relax & unwind, plunge pool, ducted aircon/heating, lounge room with wood fireplace, large well-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, oven, gas cooktop, filtered drinking rainwater, outdoor BBQ (for cooking meat & fish), library with books, boardgames, cd's & dvd's, satellite TV reception, Wi-Fi. Covered decks with sensational views - soak up the scenery, sip, snack, snooze or schmooze. A blend of country and modern furnishings and fittings create a comfortable & harmonious space. The original farmhouse has undergone numerous renovations over time to meet growing needs & we are always working on improving our facilities. We are not alone on the farm - there’s abundant birdlife, wildlife, plantlife & farm animals. You just need to stop, look & listen. There’s our herd of Droughmaster cattle, a few dairy cows who foster orphaned calves, a dog, cat, miniature goats & chickens, who may provide fresh eggs in return for food scraps. There’s a dam stocked with Silver Perch & Bass (catch & release certain times of year). Obi Obi Creek is also home to some rare & endangered species such as platypus, Mary River Cod, Mary River Turtle, Lung fish. Fishing IS NOT permitted east of Obi Obi creek crossing#4 which includes the creek on our farm, but it’s a great spot to swim, kayak & hangout on hot days.
