PUTTING SAFETY FIRST: We will be socially distancing while staying friendly. ALL surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned between guests. Disinfectant wipes and gel will be available in the hallway and room. Please don't hesitate to ask for info. Cosy room with its own bathroom on a separate attic floor 2 flights of stairs. A generous breakfast of cereal, eggs, toast, preserves. Easy access to great places of interest including Malham, Skipton,Settle,Bolton Abbey,Grassington,Bowland Forest. Large modern comfortable house in the Craven District on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It has two bedrooms for guests. This listing is a very pleasant, private attic room with its own bathroom. This room has a double bed (Sealy Posturepedic) and Dunlopillo pillows, oak furniture, tea/coffee-making facilities and a hair dryer. Adjacent is your own private bathroom/toilet. Both the bedroom and the bathroom have opening skylights. So you don't really have a view from the bedroom. Also you cannot stand upright in part of the room but it is very private since only you are on this top floor. This is a lovely home in a beautiful part of England just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and also close to the Forest of Bowland. Cycle and walking routes are almost infinite from here plus plenty of places for wild water dipping in the Ribble, Aire, Wharfe valleys and also in the Bowland Forest and Pendle areas. To the south are moorlands leading to Haworth. There are also old cotton towns with some industrial remnants open to the public. The nearest shopping town is the wonderful market town of Skipton with its own castle. The area has some of the finest walking in Britain, notably around Malham, Wharfedale and the upper Ribble where the famous Three Peaks are. A day trip to the Lake District is also possible, as is York, Leeds, Harrogate and Morecambe Bay. There are three preserved steam railways within 15 miles: the K W Railway (Railway Children movie), the Embsay Railway and the East Lancs Railway (ELR). For walkers Malham with its famous karst features is 12 miles away. Walk along the Wharfe at Grassington or take the family to Bolton Abbey. Both about 15 miles away. The village has an infinite choice of cycle day rides in all directions from the flat canal to the gorgeous Ribble, Aire and Wharfe Valleys. For shopping the famous Boundary Mill is 6 miles away in Colne. For high street shopping with department stores there is Leeds and Harrogate but I recommend Harrogate as a more peaceful experience! If you are travelling by bicycle or motor cycle there is a garage to secure the bikes overnight. There is ample space for cars on the driveway. There is a kettle with tea and coffee, biscuits provided in your room. You may also use the garden room and dining room. There's a WC on the ground floor. Cycles and motor cycles can be stored in the garage. Cars can be parked in the driveway. Raymond and Muriel will be living on the premises and interacting with guests and are available when needed. For walkers and cyclists, maps, route suggestions can be provided. There will be tools available for cyclists- foot pump and lube plus storage in the garage. There's a small shop and friendly cafe in the village (open every day). There are several beautiful pubs in the area serving excellent food (unfortunately none within walking distance). There's a high quality beauty/hairdressing salon just round the corner should you fancy some pampering! Skipton (6mi) has many very good eating /drinking places. The castle, canal, and woods are a must to see. The nearest town for supermarket, market, bank, post office and fuel is Barnoldswick, 3 miles away. Take some time to view our guidebook. We can pick you up from Skipton, Gargrave, Hellifield or Clitheroe station. Cost: £6 with prior arrangement. There are frequent rail services to Skipton and Clitheroe but the nearest station is Gargrave or Hellifield. Nearest airports are Manchester (1.5 hours) and Leeds (45 minutes). Free parking at Gargrave station (5 miles away) can see you accessing trains to Carnforth & Morecambe Bay for a wonderful, alternative day trip by the sea. You are welcome to use the kitchen to provide simple meals. The refrigerator has limited space so don't bring a lot of food. You are fine to heat up a pizza or heat up a ready made meal in the microwave.
