the Big Barn at Poplars Farm - completely unique

We are a working farm in sunny Leicestershire. We've converted the old grain store, stables, cart house and loft into a beautiful four-bedroom space - the Big Barn. There's a living/dining space with wood-burning stove, a kitchen, playroom, courtyard and fields to walk in. We're close to market towns Melton Mowbray and Oakham, but far enough away for complete peace and quiet! Our local pub is superb, there is a farm shop and cafe just down the road and the views are cracking. The space is completely unique. We tried to keep as many of the building's original features as we could, whilst making it as comfortable as possible for guests. All four bedrooms are cosy and easy. We've bought Emma mattresses for all our king size beds so that you get the best night sleep, have installed big showers and have included coffee, tea, kettles etc. (as well as TVs) in all four rooms. If you need a travel cot just ask. Each of the bedrooms has a king-size bed, meaning that a total of 8 adults can stay. There is the option of two small ‘put-me-up' beds if you need them for two children - meaning a total of 10 can be accommodated (but it's 8 adults max). The communal areas are all on the ground floor. There's a dining area with super high ceilings, a kitchen and a play/family room. PLEASE NOTE, the staircase to three bedrooms is on the OUTSIDE of the building. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, so please bear in mind if you would like to book. There is the option of a hot tub out in the fruit orchard. This is priced at £100 for the length of your stay and can be arranged nearer check-in. We do not allow same-sex groups. Guests can access the entire barn and the orchard directly outside. There is free private parking for guests right next to the barn. Please note that we sometimes have guests staying in the Shepherds Huts. Please leave the communal outdoor kitchen/chill out area for their use only. We live in the farmhouse next door and we are here if you need us - if you have any problems do come and find us. Our road is pretty special. On it you'll find: Eye Kettleby Lakes (15 minute walk) which has fishing and a great bar and daytime restaurant; March House Farm (20 minute walk) with a cafe, butchery and farm shop; and the Milk Shed (30 minute walk) where you can buy a glass milk bottle and fill it as many times as you need with milk pretty much straight from the cow. Our local pub is the Royal Oak in Great Dalby (30 min walk/3 min drive). It's a lovely pub that serves fantastic food everyday except Monday. Public transport is seriously lacking in the area. We recommend arriving by car, but if travelling by train the nearest station is Melton Mowbray (4 miles). Another option is Grantham Station, which is further away (19 miles), but accommodates many more routes. You can get a train from London Kings Cross to Grantham pretty easily and some only take an hour. We want all out guests to have a great time when they stay at the big barn, but please think of your neighbours (i.e. us) and keep noise at a considerate level - especially if you're outside.
