'BY THE BAY'- is located in village called Kalbadevi, just 12kms from Ratnagiri City and 19 kms from Ganpatipule. It is hidden inside dense patch of coconut trees. The virgin beach and deep blue sea is situated just 4 minutes away. Those who wish to experience a village life, this is the place. It accommodates the family very well. Our home stay, situated in beautiful village, kalbadevi, on konkan coast and in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, offers lovely tropical paradise away from all the hustle bustle of cities. The home stay is tucked away in a very dense plantation of coconut, mango, chiku, jackfruit etc.; Tus offer pollution free and healthy environment for the nature lovers. The vicinity of sea at the backside of home stay, is an ideal romantic get away with only the lapping of waves and white sands to keep you company. Simplicity being the motto, the home stay has eco friendly vibes. The home stay offers spacious living room with relaxing chairs and dinning table at the ground level. A kitchen is provided only for basics like tea, coffee, maggi NOT for extensive full meal cooking for lunch or dinner. Two separate bedrooms are located at the backside, one at ground level and other at first floor level. Guest will have access to -living room which is double height space, 2 bedroom s, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, varandah & outdoor area. Kitchen- can be used only for tea , coffee & maggi not for full meal cooking. Bedroom @first floor has air conditioning. Bathroom @ ground floor - it has gas geyser for hot water.European WC, hot shower. Bathroom @ first floor- it has European WC,shower facility Few things to note- 1) Network - Vodafone has connectivity , Airtel ,Gio has no connectivity. 2) During the rains, path around the house & walkway to the beach gets muddy & slippery. (Also the Walkway which is outside our property up to the sea) 3)Electricity is interrupted frequently, hence be prepared for romantic candle light dinner . Also every Monday Electricity is disconnected from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm for maintainance purpose. 4) No electrical power back up is available, But candles are available in case of emergency. 5) There is no care taker or servant available, hence you will be on your own to enjoy the beauty of personal space and time. 6) Kitchen sink Tap is connected to property well. This water is safe to drink . Or else one can carry mineral water bottles along. 7) This home stay is hidden and not to be found on any boards by the roadside. We ourselves get in touch with our guests for the direction which all the more enhances the essence of the village life. 8) It generally gets very dark & silent in the vicinity at night. So it is preferable to reach this destination well in advance before it gets too dark. By road it takes to 9 to 10 hrs from Mumbai or Pune including breaks. Once it gets dark, difficult to search and reach the destination. 19) Music after 9 pm is not allowed , it is in the silent zone being a quiet village, and we don't wish to offend our neighbours. House rules- 1) Don't use Electric gyser any heavy equipments with AC together. Electricity will Trip off immediately. 2) Kindly switch off all the lights ,fans, AC, Gyser, Fridge before checking out. 3) Don't drop any food items like lime, food, fruits, drinks or any other items which reacts acidically with the Floor, just to avoid any permanent marks on the floor. Insted one can use mats or news papers to keep the food items on the floor. Or else dinning table. Is available 4) Please use Electric gyser carefully. 5) We love our house and expect the same from you with a responsibility. 6) As far as possible use less plastic items, and share ideas how can we avoid using plastic. 7) Music after 9 pm is not allowed , it is in the silent zone, neighbours will complain. 8) kindly carry toothbrush, torch etc 9) There are no shops & restaurants in the village , get mineral water, milk & food items from Ratnagiri city or Ganpatipule before reaching this destination 10) Parking lot is available in front of the homestay - @ owner's risk. (Avoid parking below coconut trees.) It's a peaceful neighbourhood. Not too close and not too far from the Ratnagiri city. There are two beaches which are close by- 1) Kalbadevi Beach- 5 mins walk from the house, beautiful ,virgin beach with white sand. 2) Aarey-Warey beach- 15mins away by car. very famous destination in Ratnagiri. Boating is available. Ganpatipule- 30mins away by car. It has very famous and ancient Ganpati temple in Maharshtra. Malgund - it has Poet Keshav Sutt memorial. He was a famous for his poetry in Marathi. Good Architecture to see. Prachin Konkan- Prachin Kokan is a life size museum set in a sprawling three acre campus in Ganpatipule depicting life in yester years in Konkan. A guided tour in the museum takes you through various aspects of life in Konkan in the past. The museum elucidates the social, economic, cultural and religious background of Konkan. Market places- 1) Sakhartar - 15 mins way by car toward Ratnagiri city. it is famous for fresh fish. It has small market for day to day requirements ,medicines etc. 2) Ratnagiri City market- 30 mins away from the house, it is the main market which serves the entire Ratnagiri district. 3) Thiba palace- 30 mins way by car. The Thiba palace is in Ratnagiri city is historical building . This historical palace built in 1910-11 by the british. This palace area is about 25803 Sq. Meter. When british bring the King Thiba from Bramahadesh, they shifted him in Ratnagiri and for the King Thiba the palace is built. Thiba king go to the palace for live in the year of 1911. After the death of king Thiba it will be taken by british again and it will be official of british officers. After the freedom, our governments 11 offices are live in this palace. The tomb of King Thiba is in the area of shivaji nagar in city. In 1962 , the separate residence is built for indian officers and after that government polytechnic is started in the Thiba palace. It will be shifted in separate place afterwords. It's a very basic home, to stay not a hotel/resort. No room service. Its a quiet & hidden place. No signage on the roads so guests need to reach before sunset and need to follow the map posted in the pictures. Avoid reaching at house in the night , it will difficult to find the place. It will definitely give you village life experience that is for sure. Please Do not come with high expectations. You need to leave the home clean ,nit as it was kept when you enter in.
