BRINGING A 4WD: As Moreton Island is a sand Island (3rd largest in the world) the only vehicles that operate on the Island are 4WD. Providing your vehicle is a 4WD, you can drive it on the island as all the tracks on the island are built for 4WD vehicles only. It is not recommended to bring an All-Wheel Drive vehicle across as they are too low for adequate ground clearance of the tracks. The MiCat vehicle and passenger Ferry from Howard Smith Drive, Lytton at the Port of Brisbane to the Tangalooma Wrecks is the only vehicle Ferry operating between Brisbane and Tangalooma, therefore early bookings are essential.
