Halcyon Cottage Retreat provides a modern take on Bed and Breakfast accomodation in Gippsland. It overlooks the Strzlecki Ranges offering the perfect escape to the country, or a 'home base' for out of town professionals. It's an easy drive from Melbourne, but you will feel a million miles away. Huge picture windows overlook Wild Dog Valley. You will feel on top of the world as you sit back and lose yourself in the never ending green hills and star- studded skies. Guests have full private use of the whole cottage. The bedrooms are made available in line with number of guests booked. Rooms not required by number of guests booked will be locked unless prior arrangements have been made. The cottage has been set up to share with a group of friends or for 1-3 couples. The kitchen is a gourmet/ foodies delight with all the facilities you need to make your time with us here special. Guests can share our herb and kitchen garden as well as enjoy our bird life and farm animals. We are onsite to assist with any requests you may have. We will provide you information on local amenities and places of interest including wineries, walks, restaurants art galleries and much more. Strzelecki is just 90 mins from Melbourne situated amid rolling green hills in the Strzelecki ranges. Gippsland is a great foodie area surrounded also with Wineries and amazing walks. We have a fabulous garden to share with guests - the views are to die for. Seeing is believing We have secure on site car parking. You can bring your bikes and track along the Southern Railway bike track. Arrive from Korumburra or Warragul we are 20 mins from either end About Halcyon Cottage Retreat (pronounced: hal-see-on) Stylish Gippsland self-contained accommodation for friends, lovers, business partners or just you! An easy 90 minute drive from Melbourne, our all seasons slice of heaven accommodates up to six people and includes two bathrooms, indoor & outdoor baths and views to die for. Our huge picture windows overlook the Wild Dog valley and beyond to Gippsland's magnificent Strzelecki ranges. BEDROOM Bedroom 1: 1 x Queen - made available for bookings for 2 people Bedroom 2: 1 x Queen - made available for bookings for 2 couple Bedroom 3: 2 x King Singles - made available for bookings for 1 couple and up to 2 children or 5 -6 people. We can provide a portacot for a baby/toddler. Please request this when booking. You will need to provide your own linen for the portacot. Please advise when booking if you need alternative room access. Nearby Food Options: Korumburra - Our nearest town is Korumburra (pretty 15 minute drive) and offers some good country hotel and eating/food shopping options including: ‘Middle Pub’, ‘Rainbow Palace’ Chinese, and ‘Divas’ Tandoori Indian to name a few. There’s also a licensed IGA that will have most of what you’ll need. Warragul - Larger range of options (pretty 20 minute drive) from us and Pepe’s Pizza, Hoggett Kitchen – lovely outlook (formerly Wild Dog Winery) ‘Warragul Thai’ and The Courthouse are all good places to eat. Farmer’s Markets: There’s always a weekend market on somewhere in the area, so why not stock up with some of our delicious local produce! Link: Gippsland Farmers Markets Kongwak Market (Every Sun 9 - 12.30ish) This is a hippy, shabby chic, retro affair and the antique and book shop is fun for a browse. (you can also swing by 'Prom Country Cheese' on your way through) Woolworth's Online: For those without the time to shop or who simply want to arrive to a kitchen ‘ready packed’ with all their favourite goodies - Woolworth's On-Line delivers right to the door. Some things worth noting … Walking, Cycling, Touring, Sightseeing: We live in a beautiful part of the world here, bordering on both the magnificent Prom Country and Baw Baw Country Regions. Check out the options on South Gippsland Golf Massage: For those who just need to ‘chill’, Michelle at 'Soul Serenity’ offers our guests an exclusive “in cottage” massage treatment (for 2 or more), but ...you need to book early to ensure a place! Wineries and Distilleries: Gippsland Wine Company Loch Brewery and Gin Distillery Dirty Three Wines Hogget Kitchen Waratah Hills Winery Harman Wines Lucinda Estate Djinta Djinta Winery Basia Mille A couple of other things to see, eat, drink and do: Loch - is a special little village nearby. ‘Olive' is a classic little café for coffee and a snack and Gippsland Wine Company and the Loch Brewery & Gin Distillery are well worth a tasting! Koonwarra Food & Wine Store - delicious food and lovely selection of wines followed by a stroll along Koonwarra to Leongatha stretch of Southern Rail Trail Meeniyan - is also worth a visit with Moo’s cafe/restaurant, Trulli Woodfire Pizzeria (real Italian food) a lovely gallery and some nice gift shops. Kernot – The ‘Kernot Food & Wine Store’ is an absolute treat. Great pizzas, local wines, music on weekends and heaps of character! Leongatha – ‘The Rusty Windmill’ café and McCartin’s Hotel (Pub Grub) Fish Creek - the Fish Creek pub is a beautiful art deco building and there are a number of interesting galleries and wineries in the area (Waratah Hills Vineyard is very good) Inverloch - Tomo’s Japanese, Beach Box Cafe, Invy Espy pub, Dirty Three Wines’ tasting room and RACV Inveroch restaurant are all good places to go. Day Trips There are so many beautiful places to go, things to do and drives around the area. Here’s just one of our favourite all year rounders! Halcyon’s 'Rolling Hills and Waves Tour’... From Strzelecki head towards Korumburra the take turnoff to Poowong From Poowong then take turnoff to Loch (checkout shops and cafes, Loch Brewery and Distillery and Gippsland Wine Company) From Loch, take the Loch - Wonthaggi Rd to Wonthaggi (very pretty country) and continue along the Bass Hwy to Kilcunda (have a coffee, wine or snack at the Kilcunda General Store or lunch at the Killy Pub and then take a stroll along the Kilcunda coastal walk and over the trestle bridge) From Kilcunda, you can head back towards Wonthaggi and then on to Cape Patterson From Cape Patterson then take the Cape Patterson - Inverloch Rd to do the picturesque Bunarong Coastal Drive to beautiful Inverloch. From inverloch take the Inverloch – Korumburra Road From Korumburra continue along the Korumburra - Warragul Rd then back home to Strzelecki!
