The Harbour at Matarangi is a great place for waterskiing (tide dependent) kayaking and fishing and launching boats. Kuautuno is a 10 minute drive to another gorgeous Coromandel beach - must try Luke’s Kitchen pizzas - legendary! Coromandel Town and the Coromandel peninsula is a 20 min drive - great eateries, crafts and fresh mussels. Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove are 2 of Coromandel’s iconic spots to visit - 1 hour drive. A car is essential for exploring the area. A 2 hour Ferry from downtown Auckland lands at Coromandel - check for times. But you would require transport from Coromandel town.
