The cottage is super cosy with gas heating and excellent insulation. The contemporary and fully self-contained cottage is 15 minutes from wonderful Castlemaine, and its restaurants and cafes, shops, galleries, etc. Free unlimited NBN wi-fi, and Netflix. The cottage sleeps two and a third guest on the comfy sofa. Nestled in the Chewton Bushlands, Gondwanaland Cottage is a superior, stylish guest cottage surrounded by our 9-acres of Box-Ironbark Forest. Wildlife abounds - kangaroos, wallabies, our occasional koala visitor, over 50 species of native birds, high conservation status bushland with dams, walks, and peaceful ambience. The cottage is separate from the main house. Fully renovated to contemporary standards, you enter the living area and see the most comfortable couch ever, 4-seater dining area, and sleek, very well appointed kitchen. A 4-plate gas cooktop, Nespresso machine, good sized fridge, and top quality cookware, flatware, and utensils make self-catering a pleasure. There's also a large BBQ, and your own 6-seater outdoor dining setting on a shaded deck, and of course, the signature Gondwanaland pool. The bedroom is at the rear of the cottage and has it's own gorgeous view and dappled eastern light. Rest yourselves well in the queen bed, read by the French door looking out to the bush. The living room couch is easily dressed to make 2 single beds. Great bathroom with powerful, hot shower, and useful toiletry supplies. Gondwanaland Cottage will give you an 'aaaahh' feeling as you open the front door. A good choice. Our plan in the event of fire is to ask guests to depart early and either receive a refund or swap for a future date The cottage is all yours! It is adjacent to one of the first main homes built in the Chewton Bushlands, and shares the gorgeous pool and BBQ area with experienced superhosts, Scott and Laura. It is screened from the main house for privacy. Ample parking, then 7 steps up to the cottage entrance. The cottage is fully lockable. Laundry can be done in the main house machine. Key arrangement will be made with you when you book. . It is important to note that there are approx. 1.7kms of fully passable dirt roads from the last bitumen road to Gondwanaland. Scott and Laura live at Gondwanaland. We are available at all hours to assist you but fully respect the privacy of our guests. We can make recommendations of places to go and things to see. We can do your grocery shopping in advance for you (your list and pay on arrival); we can share our knowledge of this beautiful landscape with you. We can organise cakes, flowers etc for special occasions (no Gorilla grams) The Chewton Bushlands is a special, much loved residential estate surrounded by natural ecosystem, with properties encompassing 5-10 acres, giving extra privacy. Located only 15 minutes from Castlemaine, 1 hour 30 minutes from the Bolte Bridge in Melbourne on the double-lane Calder Freeway, and 5 minutes from historic Chewton Village, our homestead has exceptional natural features, modern amenities, and proximity to the popular and diverse Mount Alexander Shire's many attractions and events. Plenty of flyers, maps, tourist booklets, etc. are on hand in the cottage. The Chewton Bushlands roads are dirt but all 100% passable in any vehicle. But do slow down as there is wildlife and dirt roads require a more careful style of driving. Your cottage is easily accessible from the Calder Freeway, the Midland Highway, and Castlemaine V-line station. Ample free parking at Gondwanaland Cottage. Breakfast supplies including fresh fruit, bread, milk, cereals, and fresh juice will be available. We will happily stock your fridge in advance from a list supplied by yourselves (your cost). Thoughtful extras like insect repellent, and 'forgot my razor or toothbrush' supplies are at your disposal. Read the book 'A Dream Realised' in the cottage - it's about this bushland's history, and our property features alongside those of other residents. Gondwanaland as with all homes in the Chewton Bushlands, is entirely off grid. Our power, water and gas systems are ‘top notch’ and will give you the opportunity to experience luxury whilst significantly reducing environmental impact.
