Welcome to our cottage at Top Notch Macadamias. Situated on a sunny hillside on the edge of a mature nut tree orchard, our cottage provides privacy, immaculate comfort and a touch of luxury. An easy hour’s drive from Auckland, the cottage is perfect for a first or final stay in New Zealand. It is central to many of the North Island destination – Coromandel Peninsula beaches and bush walks, Hobbiton, Hauraki Rail Trail, Te Aroha Mineral Springs are all an hour’s drive (or less) away. The cottage is fully self-contained and furnished to make sure you are comfortable and feel a bit spoiled. Quality linen including fluffy bamboo/cotton towels, electric blanket, coffee, tea and sweet treats from our orchard and fresh flowers are all part of our welcome. Right at your door step are beautiful country walks through the orchard's trees, ponds and meadows. A well-equipped kitchen area in the living room allows you to prepare breakfast and simple meals. There are views from every window. Open the windows or step out onto the deck to hear the birdsong and smell the sweet scent of blossoms in spring. Help yourself to the apples off the tree in front of your cottage. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck as the sun goes down and take in the peaceful quiet and lengthening shadows of the countryside. You will have exclusive use of the cottage and deck. You are also welcome to wander in the orchard. Your hosts will be happy to assist you with planning your day's outings and onward travel and answer any questions They will not impose on your privacy. The cottage is in Patetonga, a country settlement in heart of the beautiful Waikato district renowned for it rolling grassy countryside and dairy farms. We are located 40 metres down rural road just off SH 27 and are surrounded by farms, not shops and city streets. A few minutes drive will get you to cafes and the towns of Ngatea and Morrinsville, with petrol stations, shops, groceries and restaurants, about 20 minutes in either direction. Travel a bit further to the main provincial city of Hamilton (international award winning gardens, river walks, shopping malls, casino and full range of restaurants, bars and entertainment). The cottage is in an idyllic position to base yourself in the central North Island. The popular destinations of the Coromandel, Hauraki Rail Trail, Hobbiton and hot mineral springs of Miranda, Te Aroha and Matamata are all under an hour away. Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty are just over an hour's drive. Return from a busy day to relax in your own private cottage. It is best to have your own vehicle. Free secure parking is available at your cottage. The cottage is situated in a private and quiet corner of the orchard, however Top Notch Macadamias is a functioning business.
