Large detached Victorian house in quiet location backing onto Birkenhead Park, set back from the road with off-street parking area. Bedroom 1: king-size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, TV, desk, chair, small sofa bed and convertible single bed, best suited to children. Bedroom 2: double bed, sofa bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk, TV, chair. Private shower room. Tea & coffee facilities in room Breakfast provided by arrangement for an extra charge 15 minutes from Liverpool by car. The 3 storey detached house was built in 1853 to a design specified by Joseph Paxton as part of the plan for Birkenhead Park, which itself opened in 1847. All the rooms in the house are of generous proportions, with high ceilings. Guest bedroom 1 measures 5m x 4m and is situated at the rear of the house, overlooking the garden and Birkenhead Park. The room is suitable for 2 adults, plus up to 2 young children. Note that both the sofa bed and convertible single bed are best suited to children under 12 as they are smaller than standard double and single beds. Bedroom 2 is 4mx5m and also overlooks the park, and has a queen-size bed, small sofa bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, table, chari, TV. The private shower room (shower, toilet, sink) is situated across the hallway. Guests have access to 2 1st floor bedrooms, private shower room and the ground floor dining room. Guests do not have access to our kitchen or laundry facilities. I'm usually home all day and available to help with transport queries, info on places to visit in the Wirral, Liverpool, Chester and North Wales. My husband is a very keen golfer and a member at Wallasey. He can provide information on golf courses to play in the local area and further afield. Local shops and pubs are 5 minutes walk from the house. The pretty village of Oxton with its excellent restaurants is 5 minutes drive or a short bus ride away. The Wirral Tennis Centre is 15 minutes' walk or 5 minute bus ride. The bus stops opposite the house. There are a dozen or so golf courses within a 30 minute drive, two of which (Royal Liverpool and Wallasey) are Championship courses. Lovely beaches at Hoylake and West Kirby, and the Wirral Circular Walking Trail are 15-20 minutes drive away, or can easily be reached by public transport. Liverpool city centre is 15-20 minutes by car, bus, ferry or train. The house is conveniently situated for public transport. The house has a large driveway with parking for several cars. Buses to the centre of Liverpool stop at the corner of the road, and take around 25 minutes to reach the centre of Liverpool. Buses to Oxton, West Kirby and other places in Wirral also stop at the corner of the road, heading away from Liverpool. Buses to Birkenhead town centre stop directly outside the house. Birkenhead Park Mersey Rail station is 0.7 miles away, approx. 8-10 minutes walk. Trains run every 15 minutes to Liverpool, West Kirby and New Brighton, more frequently in rush hour. The Mersey Ferry terminal in Birkenhead is 5 minutes drive from the house, with ferries sailing to the historic Albert Docks in Liverpool and to Wallasey. Easy access to the Birkenhead & Wallasey Tunnels, the A41 and the M53 motorway. The Stena Line Liverpool Port terminal for boats to / from Belfast is 8 minutes drive. Cooked "full English" breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, beans, toast) for £7.50 per adult, £4 per child under 12. Cold "continental" breakfast (cereal, toast, croissants) for £5. Served with orange juice, tea or coffee, selection of jams and marmalade. Breakfast is served in the large, sunny dining room, between 7:30 and 10am. We have 4 cats. The cats do not go into the guest bedrooms, however the property is not suitable for someone with pet allergies.
