If I’m not, my cohost or local friends are… Located on the north bank of the Hawkesbury River upstream of that river's confluence with Mangrove Creek is Spencer. Spencer is named the "Hub of the Universe" and it is easy to understand why. Attracting a unique and eclectic mix of people from all walks of life - Spencer locals gather under the tree each evening to talk about the day and have a drink - it is dubbed "the Dunkirk". It is a licensed tree and local bar meaning you can drink your beer or wine under the tree without being arrested! On a weekend you'll find it home to motorbikes - from Harley Davidson die-hards to basic Yamahas cruisers. The local area has something for everyone - swim in the river or reserve, go fishing or boating, visit a winery or go for a forest bath and visit Thai Monks. In the morning you'll wake to a low mist across the river which only adds to the romance of the river. This area attracts many a writer, artist, photographer, craftsperson who are attracted to the unique beauty and nature of the area. Spencer is approximately 90 minutes drive from Sydney. Take the M1 and then the Peats Ridge exit. Spencer can be tricky due to blackout spots for the internet. Most GPS work, however, once you get closer to Spencer your wifi might drop out so make a note of the steps on (Hidden by Airbnb) maps or similar. It is relatively easy to find once you get on Wisemans Ferry Road and located right off Wisemans Ferry Road. Collington Road is a small cul-de-sac with the General Store on the corner and the Colonel on the other side. You'll need a 4WD to come up and park at the top of the drive. Front-wheel we recommend you park in the small area out front. It gets hot in summer and cold in winter, we have all the modern heating and cooling in the house but you'll need to keep in mind the weather when you visit. Bring the right equipment for your stay to keep you safe. PETS Limit to one dog. Rear courtyard is partially undercover and fenced. We prefer your fur baby stays outside. If puppy must come inside, they can’t be in the bedrooms or on the furniture sorry. Feeding and drinking must take place in the courtyard.
