Iora Homestay- Double Bedroom

Located in a beautiful village called Kitam in the South district of Sikkim is my house. The main highlights of the place include Kitam bird Sanctuary which has more than 200 different species of birds, unique pine forests, panoramic views and of course the emerald green Rangit river. The name of my homestay- "Iora homestay" itself is inspired from the name of a local bird that inhabits in this place whose name is called 'Iora'. ABOUT THE PLACE: Kitam is on the way to Namchi via Melli from Siliguri. You can reach my place from Siliguri within 3 hours journey by car. The Rangit River flows through the southern side of Kitam bird sanctuary which is a heaven for bird lovers and attracts domestic and international tourists around the year for birding. A lot of migratory birds are gathered here from the month of October making our village a home for different species and butterflies including around 200 species of birds. There are many other tourist attractions including the monasteries, old relics, 100 year old mud house, etc. REACHING MY HOME: As you enter Kitam, you'll find a gate which acts as an entrance to reach my village- Lower Kitam. On your way you'll see many homes . A few minutes drive and my home is right above the main road. My home is a concrete house unlike most of the traditional mud houses in and around my village. It has cement walls, proper doors and windows and is painted in bright beautiful colors. It is in a building form but right now we have just built one floor with a plan to construct the other floors in the future. Room~ It has a double bed, side table, wardrobe and a TV. It is adjacent to the other room that we provide to the guests. Washroom~ The washroom is outside the house which is well tiled. It has a WC, wash basin with mirror and shower area. AMENITIES: - Morning bed tea. - Fresh linens and towels are provided in the room. - There is a ceiling fan in the room. - Heaters or hot bags will be provided during the winters. You can access your room, the kitchen area, the washroom, balcony, the front yard and the surrounding. I live in the house along with my family. I will be at work during the week days in the daytime but my parents will be there at home if there's anything you require. I'll be always available in the morning and evening time. The neighborhood includes the following: - Kitam Bird Sanctuary situated at around 1,200 ft to 3,000 ft above sea level spreads across more than 6 sq K.M. - You can reach Tamley Lake (Tamley Pokhri) from the sanctuary by crossing Sherpa and Lepcha villages on your foot. - Tarey Bhir : an amazing ridge and a very nearby destination from Kitam sanctuary at Sadam village. - Namchi, the main town in the neighboring area which is about an hour drive from Kitam has a lot of good restaurants, Karaoke bars and pubs. It also has other tourist attraction places like Sangduptse, Chaardham, helipad, etc. Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) where daily flights are available from and to all major Indian cities. New Jalpaiguri or NJP is the nearest railway station which has a good connection through regular train service. Direct cars are available from Siliguri town, NJP railway station and airport to Kitam through Sevoke and Melli. The road is divided at Melli where in case you move straight, you'll reach Gangtok and the road turning left will take you to Kitam via Melli-Nayabazar road. Shared transportations are also available from Siliguri Junction taxi stand. The distance to reach Kitam from various places are as under: NJP to Kitam- 110 kms. Gangtok to Kitam- 101 kms. Pelling to Kitam- 116 kms. Ravangla to Kitam- 30 kms. Namchi to Kitam- 12 kms.
