One of the last original sized miners cottages of historic Korumburra. Our private cosy country hideaway sleeps 3 guests. Relax and recharge surrounded by lovingly handpicked antiques & country collectibles. Walking distance to Coal Creek, IGA, and all the local hot food and coffee spots. The cottage is privately tucked away on its own big block surrounded by established native trees. Princes Cottage Korumburra is nestled quietly behind big hedges. Take a stroll up the brick path and up the steps to the little deck thats sits at the front of the cottage. Once inside, you will be greeted by a freshly renovated hundred year old cottage. To the right sits the main bright and airy bedroom with a double bed. There are also two beautiful cane armchairs to sit and read in. The room also has an antique desk for any last minute laptop action before you kick back and relax! To your left is the second bedroom/lounge room. With two cosy wingback armchairs and a single daybed. There is a TV in this room if you want to watch something and unwind. Continuing on to the country kitchen you will find a shabby chic four seat kitchen table with Brentwood chairs, antique benches and a small study desk. We have cups, bowls, glasses, wine and champagne glasses, baking trays and cutlery. Store any cool items in our brand new mint green retro fridge and enjoy toast & tea courtesy of the vintage inspired appliances! The reverse cycle air conditioner in the kitchen keeps the cottage cool in summer and cosy warm in winter. In the modern bathroom you will find a clean and spacious space with a glass shower and custom wood shelf. Head out through the french door from the kitchen out to the back seating area and lounge in the two seater cane armchair or rocking chair. Flick on the festoon lights for a bump in romantic ambience! The yard is large and private with baby olive trees and a multitude of succulents slowly growing in pots and alongside the house. Our stunning entryway iceberg roses put on their best show in spring and into summer! If you want a little more quiet space to sip a cup of tea, there is a cute little garden chairs and table setting up by the gorgeous garden shed. On street parking is fine, but if you prefer private parking please enter the parking at the rear of the property. You are welcome to spend time anywhere on the property. Sit on the front porch and enjoy the view of the hills, sip a tea in the lounge or eat some toast in the kitchen! The back area is perfect for lounging around and enjoying the quiet and private backyard. Take a seat in the rocking chair because you cannot help but relax in it! The bedroom contains a small desk incase you need to do any last minute work or update socials. The only place we ask you to steer clear of is the back garden shed. There isnt anything interesting in there, just shovels and paint etc but some items may be sharp/ heavy/ rusty and we would not want to see anyone hurt whilst they stay with us! If you require any advice or help during your stay, we live close by and can help as much as we can. Just shoot us a quick message and we will endevour to assist wherever possible. Something else missing you feel like would have been a great addition to your stay? Feel free to add a note on your review in the "private notes to the hosts" section of your review - we love feedback and want Princes Cottage Korumburra to be enjoyable for every guest! Put simply, Korumburra is a calm and relaxing country town. The shops and shop owners are local, the supermarket is a simple IGA, and you will not find a large chain restaurant in sight. The neighborhood is safe and secure, and don't be surprised if you get a "good morning" or a "hello" everywhere you go! The houses are a mixture of traditional Victorian, modern new estates and brick homes. Take a walk down Radovick to see some examples of stunning coal mine era cottages and houses! The local IGA is a ten minute stroll away if you need any necessities (like tim tams!). In Korumburra's main drag you will find ATM's, a boutique clothing and homewares shop, 5 cafes, 4 opp shops, a handmade pastry and cake shop, 2 bakeries, Bendigo and Commonwealth Bank, the Burra Brewery for woodfire pizza and craft beer. We also have Indian, Chinese and quality Fish and Chips. Take a walk through the botanic gardens and laps around the showgrounds. Sport takes pride of place in our community so catch a game of local footy or soccer at the two sports ovals of a weekend if that's your thing! Coal Creek is a must for a couple of hours to understand the roots of Korumburra. You will be blown away by the preservation of the mining community - best of all its FREE! Dont miss a visit to the old Korumburra Train Station. Although no longer in operation you will find amazing photo opportunities and a gorgeous example of the old architecture that shaped the early years of the town. If beaches are more your pace, Inverloch is a 20 minute drive with gorgeous pristine coastline and surf beaches. In Leongatha a 10 minute drive away, find even more food options, opp shops and an Aldi and Safeway and quality butchers. We are surrounded by wineries too, so if you want a bottle of vino from East Gippsland to take home you are spoilt for choice. Prom Country Cheese is another pearl of a venue to visit (plus they sell wine and do tastings #winwin) For another cute local township experience, Loch is well worth a stop. With amazing cafes and new restaurants opening up. Here you will find a tiny township that oozes country charm. If you are up for a bit more of a roadtrip, Venus Bay, Tarwin River and Wilson's Prom are easily accessible. In Meeniyan you will discover a beautiful French bakery with delicious baguettes and scrumptious wood fire pizza at Trulli Italian restaurant. We are surrounded by stunning drives into rolling green dairy farms and hills, drive through Outtrim to Inverloch at sunset for INCREDIBLE views of the rolling green hills and still dams! A car would be the best option for visitors to the cottage. This will get you through the views of the rolling hills, and into town if the weather is a little wet. Driving to Korumburra is easy, about an hour and 20 from Melbourne. Simply head toward Phillip Island and take the Leongatha turn off and it will take you straight to Korumburra. You can pick up a bus from and to Melbourne, it takes around 1.5 hours. Check online for locations and times. A push bike will get you about town for bits and pieces if you desire! We endevour to have two bikes available in coming weeks.
