Arlamont. Close to Sydney but worlds away.
On the edge of the Blue Mountains, near Waldara, Jenolan Caves, Kanangra NP, Bathurst, Mt Panorama & Mayfield Gardens. Arlamont is the perfect home base to explore and unwind in the glorious Central Tablelands. You’ll find comfort, warmth and privacy with 260 acres of stunning views surrounding a house brimming with history. Suited to couples, families and groups. Books, games, wildlife, a sky full of stars and pure mountain air awaiting your arrival. Only 2 hours, but a world away from Sydney. Firstly, space, there's lots of it! On the ground and in the sky. Surrounding the house, you'll find 260 acres of pristine, rolling valleys, which truly show off the ever-changing region. You will look upon the picturesque landscape and bare witness to the four seasons, sunrises and sunsets as you’ve never seen them before. The heart of the property supports an old homestead. The original section of the house was crafted using the 'rammed earth' technique, and built in the early 1900's. In some areas, the walls are 2 feet thick which makes the house quiet and warm. A double brick extension was added to the original house in the 1970's. Step inside and you'll find a warm and cosy space, split into bedrooms and living spaces to allow for many guests. Yes, this is a country house, but you'll find bedding and amenities suited to an inner city hotel - plush, spacious and comfortable beds are available for up to 20 guests. You and your partner could be seeking an escape, a bit of time to switch off from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day suburban life. For that, we have novels and magazines, patches of grass for yoga at sunrise. Day trips to Bathurst, Sofala, Kanangra, Katoomba, the gardens of Mayfield, any of the destinations between Arlamont and Sydney as it is only a couple of hours away. Visit Govetts Leap at Blackheath, Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath, the lolly shop at Leura and The Jellybean Pool at Glenbrook. Maybe the family needs a bit of grounding, a moment to pause, and spend some time with the world away from the net. If you are game enough to disconnect from social media and technology and reconnect with each other then come to Arlamont. The withdrawal symptoms from technology will be softned by the allure of nature, where you can rediscover books, board games and outside activities. The games cupboard calls for players to start at GO and you’ll find the marshmallows ready for roasting, once the fire pit gets crackling. Make popcorn, pick blackberries (if in season) to bake in the pie maker, master the local cookbook and it’s mighty scone recipe, and, when the sun goes down, search the night sky for satellites, constellations and falling stars. You will wish you had bigger lungs to breathe in the air. The Duckmaloi and Fish Rivers and Oberon Dam are near by which have rainbow and brown trout and also a growing number of redfin. A tagged trophy trout has been released into the streams surrounding Oberon. There are numerous dirt bike tracks around the area and in the surrounding forestry on Bindo (the mountain in most of the outdoor photos). There are beautiful lookouts around Lithgow and Mt Vic and the Small Arms Factory and Glow Worm Cave at Lithgow are definitely worth a look. When you drive through the gates, Arlamont becomes your space, and we want you enjoy every part of it, not just the house. The boundary walk is beautiful and challenging and you will be invigorated. As it is a working cattle farm, you will encounter farm animals, we only ask that you don't try to chase or scare the animals on the property. Requests may be made when booking to allow your pet to stay at Arlamont. Permission will be granted on a case by case basis. If you have animals that may/will chase the stock then they will not be permitted on the property. Most pets will be allowed to stay in the house but NOT in the house. The floors are being ruined by claw scratches. We will not hinder your stay, but if assistance is required or you have questions that need answering, please do not hesitate to call us - and help is always nearby. There is no TV in the house but the lure of the land and many games supplied will have you forgetting their appeal. Mobile phone reception coverage is ok. You may have to go near a window to get reception due to the very thick walls. Enjoy board games, a battle of Jenga or Uno or reading a good book. Paddock cricket, soccer or footy. Torch light hide and seek, Fly fishing, fossicking for gold, saphires or diamonds in the local creeks, (some fossicking equipment may be available for hire). Jenolan Cave tours, Kanangra Boyd National Park exploring, mountain bike and dirt bike riding in the forests for the adventurous or just relaxing with a glass of wine while the sun falls beyond the valley for the romantics. For bushwalkers/bike riders a pick up and drop off service may be available with prior arrangement from 6 foot track or other walks/rides. Undercover shed parking is provided for motorcycle / car owners. Mayfield Gardens for garden lovers and we are only a 20 minute drive for those thinking of getting married at Mayfield Gardens or Waldara which are very exclusive and exquisite wedding reception venues in the area. But most of all tranquility, comfort and space are the real attractions here, without leaving you in isolation or boredom – wander in through her gates and allow Arlamont to work her magic. You really need your own transport to visit our area. There is so much to see and do that is not serviced by public transport! - You won't be isolated - a quick duck to the shops will take about 10 mins to drive to Oberon, and you'll be able to find all the essentials. If you are coming from Sydney and arriving late in the day then Katoomba is a more preferable and convenient place to stock up. - Central heating is installed for your comfort and in winter a gas log fire in the sitting room is a beautiful way to spend a cold winters evening. Please bring your camp fire wood with you if you intend to have a camp fires. Additional charges will apply if the furniture or bedding is moved, taken outside or re-arranged in the house without prior approval from host. A ‘Goldilocks’ fee of $10 per bed will be charged use of excess bedding ie a group of four may not use four queen/double beds. Bookings are based on twin share arrangements. Lastly there is ONE SHOWER/BATH and 3 toilets in the house. The bnb site classes toilets as bathrooms and I am unable to change it on the site unless I remove the other 2 toilets from the listing.
