This beautiful, elegant house, beside the small, heritage town of Uki, overlooks Mt Warning. Every light, airy room has a private entrance onto the wide verandah. We have gourmet breakfasts, a refreshing pool and all mod cons. Everything is new, and top quality. FOR HEALTH, ONLY VACCINATED PEOPLE WITH PROOF NEED APPLY. Uki is close (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) minutes) to Mt Warning, Byron, Nimbin, fabulous beaches and charming villages. Retired journalist Madeleine can tell you all the good places to visit. Gorgeous house with lots of light, air and views from every room. Every room has sliding doors onto the 3.3m wide verandah. One acre includes a path down to the bush. Recently renovated. Great for birdwatchers: 95 species so far. Smart TV has Netflix, SBS On Demand, iView, ChromeCast, Youtube and (Hidden by Airbnb) Play. Great Harmon Kardon sound system. The 8x3m salt pool is wonderfully refreshing and beautiful to look at and sit around. There are yoga mats and bolsters if you feel like doing yoga on the 3.3m verandah, overlooking Mt Warning. After doing Airbnb for a couple of years, I have worked out that people who want to stay in all the time and be secluded are better off renting a self-contained place. This place is best as a base to explore the area. Breakfast is on the wide verandah overlooking Mt Warning. All the jams, breads, muffins, chai and muesli are homemade or local artisan products. I offer several different kinds of teas, coffees, juices and yoghurt. All the soaps, candles and other products are locally made or sourced from Perfect Potion or the Body Shop. Most of the pottery is handmade by Madeleine, the host. Interesting wildlife includes birds in the bird bath and at the feeder, visiting possums and cockatoos. The place is very Covid-aware. There are hand sanitisers, disinfectant wipes, a dishwasher, and washing machine. We practise social distancing. The rooms are deep cleaned with disinfectant sprays and wipes. Mt Warning NP is currently closed, but Mebbin NP, 30 minutes away, is open and has wonderful walks. Guests can use all the space except my bedroom. There is a children's room with a bunk bed and toys. And there is a beautiful room for two adults with super-comfortable Queen bed. Please note: When you book, you are getting BOTH bedrooms. I will be the one only other person in the house. I do not rent the rooms separately but as a whole. You don't have to share with anyone except the host. After doing Airbnb for a couple of years, I have worked out that people who want to stay in all the time and be secluded are better off renting a self-contained place. This place is best as a base to explore the area. I am happy to show guests around or tell them all about the area. There is a kids' room, where up to 2 children can sleep. Uki is a lovely little heritage town, with interesting shops and cafes. Shop at the Saturday Uki market and meet Ida, the 93-year-old matriarch of the area. Have the best coffee in Australia at the heart of Uki, the Uki Art Post Office, a cafe and gallery owned by Gary, a postmaster with a difference. Coffee is his passion, and he roasts his own on site. Have a gourmet lunch or dinner at Mavis' Kitchen, or a delicious breakfast on the banks of the Tweed River at the Rainforest Cafe. Murwillumbah has great cafes, like Keiths, Wild Thyme and Juju's. Visit the Tweed Regional Gallery, one of the most beautiful galleries in the country, with a great collection of Australian art, and of course, the Margaret Olley wing, where three rooms of her house have been meticulously recreated. Note: You now need to book to visit the gallery. The whole area is impossibly lush and magical, the people are very special. You have to see it to believe it. Lots to do in the area: visit small villages like Tyalgum, Burringbar, etc. There are several good walks in the area. Note: Mt Warning/Wollumbin is currently closed due to Covid. Visit the many national parks: Jerusalem, Lamington, Springbrook, Border Ranges, Nightcap. Uki is about 40 minutes from Coolangatta airport, and about 50 minutes from Byron, Bungalow, Mullumbimby, Cabarita Beach. About 1.5-2 hours from Brisbane. Warning: Once you've visited here, you will want to move here! I have made up a guide of the area which I can email you. There is no public transport around here. Plenty of parking at the house. Local market in Uki on Saturday and Murwillumbah on Wednesday. The hilarious Gary Wall roasts and makes the best coffee in Australia, all the in Uki Post Office, a great place to sit on a padded stool and meet some of the fascinating locals. Everything about this house, and about Uki, is magical. After doing Airbnb for a couple of years, I have worked out that people who want to stay in all the time and be secluded are better off renting a self-contained place. This place is best as a base to explore the area.
