MOTIF1 모티프원 Owned and operated by the photographer Lee An-soo, Motif1 is more than just a guesthouse. Located in the art village of Heyri, it also serves as a studio for artists, including the owner himself. A cultural and artistic space where people can come together and share ideas - and at the center of it all is Lee An-soo. Indeed, Lee decorated his studio into a guesthouse with the aim of bringing together people from all over Korea and the world. To date, a total of 14,000 people from more than 70 countries have stayed here. Guests have included painters, writers, poets, photographers, sculptors and musicians - a fact well documented by the dozens of guest books signed. Lee looks at himself as a bridge between people from different nations. He introduces them to each other and arrange meetings for artists from Korea and abroad. This is a wonderful place for domestic artists who want to communicate with people from different genres and countries. In this magical place, you can mingle over drinks with total strangers. many of whom are artists. The freedom that Motif1 exudes, together with the energy of its owner, help guests feel comfortable as soon as they arrive. Funnily enough, the place is better known outside Korea than it is within the country, as it has been written up in numerous magazines and newspapers, as well as the Lonely Planet Korea guide. Motif1 takes its name from Mr. Lee' s wish that everyone staying here might leave with some inspiration or motif for their art. The whole place is as comfortable as it is friendly, and the living room lined with books makes it feel almost like staying at a close friend's home. If you want to enjoy more than just simple accommodations while discussing art and culture with fellow travelers and artists, this is the place to come to. Long-term stays are also available.
