This is Sri Lanka’s surfers’ paradise, known for its powerful left break. For the best surfing in Ahangama, head straight out from Kabalana Beach Hotel; in Midigama, look for the breaks near the 139km marker. The whole area is popular with surfers as it’s cheap to stay here and the breaks are never crowded. But apart from surfing, the area doesn’t have wide appeal; the beaches can be pretty thin and there’s no real concentration of places that appeal to travellers. Note that the water covers lots of rocks, coral and other hazards. Also, besides a few guesthouses offering battered boards for rent, there are no places selling surf gear or offering repairs – you’ll have to go to Hikkaduwa. One worthwhile stop on this stretch of coast is the Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery (admission Rs 150; 7am-7pm), midway between the 128km and 129km posts, where you can see baby turtles that are ready for release into the ocean here. Midigama is located on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka and has one of the most paradisial sea beaches in the country. The Surf Paradise is situated in the small coastal town with sight on the most beautiful section of the beach. It is the ideal place to enjoy beach life. Moreover, you find a wide range of beach sports in the area like: surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing and many more. The Surf Paradise has the Sri Lanka Tourist Board approval. We are happy to serve our guests at any time of the day. Enjoy in direct sea sight the unforgettable sunsets of Midigama. The Surf Paradise Hotel has a lovely rooms where guests can have a good time with. Enjoy a refreshing drink in the evening in the beautiful surroundings. Surf Paradise has 14 spacious rooms overlooking the ocean and 4 Cabanas. They are equipped with hot water and air-condition facilities or fan. It also provides an excellent room service.
