Figment Farmhouse

Enjoy this rustic 1950's bungalow, nestled in the heart of wine country and Willamette Valley farmland. Centrally located, between the towns of Carlton, Dundee & McMinnville-each offering their own charms. The house is situated on 120 acres; abundant gardens, towering Cedars and Douglas Firs, farmland and a woodland walk, right out the door. The farmhouse offers guests the entire main floor, including two bedrooms (each with a queen bed), one full bathroom (w/shower and tub combo), kitchen with full-sized stove, refrigerator, and fully stocked with dishes, cooking pans, and utensils. (Plus salt, pepper & olive oil). The living room has ample seating, a picture window, record player (and records!) games, and good books. The dining room has a spacious table, four chairs, a piano, and a picture window. Enjoy the covered front porch and two private side garden areas with outdoor seating. Parking area for two cars. We provide complimentary coffee, half & half, sugar, tea, and a few eggs from our flock. For the winter months, there are electric baseboard heaters throughout the house and the woodstove is available for added coziness. (Please pick up a bundle of wood or Duraflame!) For summertime, there is a freestanding AC unit, that does a reasonable job of keeping the main living areas cool and there are fans in each of the bedrooms as well. The second story and basement levels of the farmhouse are used for storage and are kept locked. We live in the neighboring house on the property and share a driveway. We are happy to give you a quick tour of the property to show which areas to watch out for electric fences and to meet/feed the sheep and chickens. There are nearby woods and a winery that can be reached with a good walk. We do live on the property full-time and are often at home, tending to the gardens and other projects. We aim to keep our noisier projects like mowing to a minimum while we have guests, but sometimes the weather or our own time constraints dictate when we need to tend to those tasks. We welcome conversations with our guests, and also are happy to let guests enjoy the privacy & tranquility of the property. We will post our cell numbers in the farmhouse and texting is great for us, if there are any questions throughout your stay. We share the property with four outdoor cats (Panth, Lida, Lido, and Beng) three sheep and a flock of chickens. Additionally, thru the months of April-June (give or take) our surrounding farmland is inhabited by a large herd of 100% Certified Organic Jersey cows, who are a joy to observe. When you drive onto the property, they all walk over to the edge of the fence to say "hello". (Needless to say, the occasional aroma of manure can also be detected floating through the air.) Pretty much just us, the cats and chickens. We are about 5 miles from Carlton & McMinnville, 2 miles from Lafayette, 7 miles from Dundee, 8 miles from Newberg... We have brochures, local winery and restaurant details in the house. This area is used frequently by serious cyclists. Despite the lack of an actual bike lane, the roads don't have heavy traffic and offer beautiful views of the country side and many wineries within 5-15 miles ride. Otherwise a car is required-not much in easy walking distance. This space is free from wi-fi and TV. Cell service is good and we have an unlimited data plan that allows us to stream/access the internet to our heart's content. Enabling your hotspot also works for connecting. While you're in the country...we encourage guests to enjoy the pastimes of yore; woodland walks, reading, human-to-human conversation, listening to music, playing games, coloring. The 'entertainment center' is stocked with engaging board/card games, a vintage record player and records, art coloring books and colored pencils, a selection of books and lovely gardens to enjoy. This is real country, where tractors, work, livestock are intertwined.
