Sweet 1840 mill house on the water, nature-filled back deck yet 5 mins walk to antiquing & excellent Millbrook restaurants. Make this your base as you explore the beautiful Hudson Valley. Or relax out back & enjoy the birds & stream. Farmhouse antique shabby chic decor with king tempurepedic bed in large second floor master BR, two BRs with twin trundle beds, 1 bathroom upstairs & 1 down, A/C, ceiling fan, cozy woodstove, wifi with smart tv, eat-in kitchen, coffee/tea, plenty of free parking. My sweet house has sunny windows, beautiful wood plank floors that creak in places, and an overall feeling of a quaint European farmhouse with a lot of history. I'm from Germany originally and felt as though I'd stepped back in time the first time I saw it. I've filled it with old photos, antique finds and comfy furniture. The rooms are modest sized, simple and comfortable, with a good sized master bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is well-stocked with coffee, tea and spices as well as plates and silverware. Eat inside or open the French doors to the terrace and take your plates outside. The layout is also quite brilliant - you can close off all three doors to the stairwell and have a good amount of privacy between upstairs and downstairs. Both levels also have their own individual heating as well, and using the wood burning stove also warms the house nicely. You have access to the entire house except the basement You have the house to yourself but I'll be there to greet you & show you around. I'm always available by phone, text or email. Dineen Rd. is a quiet side street in the oldest part of town, with three other houses nearby and the village about a 5 min walk away. You'll see forested land across the river and hear the nearby waterfalls; sitting on the back deck feels like you're miles away, with birds chirping and always a gentle breeze blowing through the trees. How much do I love Millbrook? So much I post photos daily on my @millbrookny insta account - my photos show its beauty better than my words can, take a look at my gallery to get a better feel for the town. Millbrook village has a lovely park with playground for children. The post office and Merritt Bookstore are close by and on your walk into town, where Marona's market is a great place to stock up on groceries. Millbrook itself is a very special, all-American kinda town. Stately & well kept Victorians on tree-lined streets, some lovely & well-priced antique stores and boutiques, and some very good restaurants: Aurelia's, Les Beaux, and the vintage Millbrook diner. We even have our own DMV. Local attractions include Millbrook Winery, Wing's Castle, The Culinary Institute, The FDR homestead, the Millbrook Zoo, Rhinebeck, the Rail Trail, the amazing Walkway over the Hudson. The Berkshires are not far away, or drive across the river to the Catskills. For smaller groups, see my other listing for renting the private upstairs two BR suite. To get here: take Metronorth Harlem Line train to Dover Plains, 15 mins from my house. Or take train to Poughkeepsie, about 25 mins from house but more frequent trains. Or just drive up the Taconic and take the Millbrook 44 exit. It's a oretty 1.5 hour drive from NYC. Some millbrook tips: We have a very sweet farmers market in town until 1 pm saturdays, it's right on Franklin Avenue on the walk to town Marona's market for groceries right across street Franklin Ave is our Main Street & has most of the shops & recommended restaurants like: Vintage Millbrook diner - good cheap comfort food Babette's - cute cafe with delish soups, sweets & sandwiches Aurelia's - outdoor eating & good food & fireplace Cafe Les Baux on church street - fantastic French food Canoe Hill - my fave, with tapas & interesting drinks & good place to hang in the evening Also two good antique malls, can't miss em Stewart's has great ice cream & basic sundries & open until 11 pm
