This is our family home. We want all our guests to make our home their "home away from home". We love to socialise with you, but will also respect your space and be available if needed. With only a short walk to the stunning Whiritoa Beach (bring your camera for a great sunrise shot), it's the perfect location for all travellers. We hope you will love staying in our home, as much as we love sharing it with you. We are a Non-Smoking, Cat friendly household and have two bedrooms available, accommodating up to 4 guests. If you wish to book more than two bedrooms please see my other listing for a one bedroom (whiritoabeachoasis-oneprivateroom). Due to coronavirus; all guests will be asked to scan and enter their contact tracing details on arrival. Due to coronavirus; we are continuing to take extra steps to clean and sanitise frequently touched surfaces between reservations. You share the house with us and we host only one or two groups at a time. The entry is fully tiled and leads to a stairway and a lift for access to the first floor living and dining area. Both bedrooms are off this main ground floor entry. Bedroom 1 has a Super-King bed, Bedroom 2 has two single beds (the single beds can also be converted into another super-king bed if required). All rooms have plenty of closet space for your clothes and bedside tables with lamps and panel heaters. Pillows, duvets, blankets and bed linen are all provided in the rooms. The beds are warm and comfortable ensuring you will get a great night’s sleep, even if it is just for one night. There are no TV's in the bedrooms. The shared bathroom (toilet and shower combined) is up a flight of stairs (or you can also use the lift). You will find Shampoo & conditioner (2n1), soap, hand lotion and towels are all provided. A hair dryer and straightening iron are located in the bathroom along with a heated towel rail. The open plan lounge/dining room opens out onto two decks. The room is air-conditioned, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer and the decks are sheltered from the rain. We offer a Laundry Service with our Washer & Dryer. For $10/Load you can give us your clothes to wash while you are out and enjoying the area and they will be clean and folded on your bed when you get back. I supply a basic breakfast consisting of cereal or porridge with fresh fruit, yoghurt, milk, bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea. Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements prior to your arrival. If you wish to supply and cook your own breakfast, then our kitchen is available for use providing guests clean up afterwards and wash/dry, or put their dishes in the dishwasher. You are also welcome to relax on either of the decks which have chairs setup on both. Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is not allowed on the decks or anywhere inside the house. Wi-Fi runs throughout the house. Whiritoa is a small beach village on the Coromandel Peninsula between Whangamata and Waihi Beach. It has a permanent population in the low hundreds, which swells to over a thousand during the New Year holiday period. It has a Surf Club, a convenience store, a library and a volunteer fire department. We are very proud of our beautiful beach, the Coromandel coastline and our amazing country, and are happy to recommend places to go and/or things to see while you are visiting our part of this lovely country. We enjoy a good chat and are happy for you to interact with us as much or as little, as you like. We love it when people stay for long periods as it gives us a chance to become great friends and share a piece of our beautiful paradise with you. If you have questions then we will most likely be around and will be able to help. The beach at Whiritoa is only about 300 metres away from our house. There are walking tracks either end of Whiritoa Beach. We are a very friendly community living here and have everything you need, either close by at the local shop or in the neighbouring towns of Waihi and Whangamata. The Coromandel area is well known for its great surf beaches, bicycle trails and bush walks. You can also: • Travel back in time and enjoy a ride on a heritage train with Goldfields Railway Journey between Waihi and Waikino, followed by a Devonshire scone with a cuppa at the Waikino Station Cafe. • Ride or walk the Hauraki Rail Trail, it’s suitable for all ages and abilities. Winding from Waihi to Waikino, through the spectacular Karangahake Gorge and on to Paeroa, explore the rich history and beauty of the area. • Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the swimming hole and waterfall at Owharoa, is a series of three waterfalls located in a couple of kilometres drive from Karangahake Gorge. • Catch a wave at one of the local surfing beaches including Whiritoa. Visit Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove. You will get the most out of your stay if you have your own vehicle. We have plenty of space on the front lawn for a vehicle or campervan to park. More parking is available on the street. Travel Distances: - 150 km to/from Auckland International/Domestic Airport - Via SH2. - 13 km to Whangamata township and beach. - 18.5 km to Waihi township. - 28.5 km from Waihi Beach. This is a Non-Smoking household, if you wish to smoke you will need to do this outside of the premises. Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is not allowed on the decks or anywhere inside the house. We have a ginger cat called Lucy, she thinks she is the mistress of the house and we are her servants. She usually keeps to herself and does not like being picked up. Lucy will sometimes jump on your lap or snuggle up beside you on the couch - but only when she feels like it. You will get the most out of your stay if you have your own transport/car. There is plenty of off street parking on the grass in front of the house. IMPORTANT NOTE: In summer, many parts of New Zealand including Whiritoa, water supplies get extremely low. We would appreciate it if you could try to conserve water where possible during your stay with us.
