Built from timber felled on the property, the property is simply furnished, with kilim rugs covering the wood floors. Right outside are hiking & cross-country ski trails, and down the road is historic Main Street with restaurants, shops and more. The warmth of the house is undeniable: built from timber felled on the property, a cozy fireplace to warm up beside, large couches to relax in and decorative, cute personal touches, and breathtaking views in all directions - you’ll feel right at home. Nature is right outside, with hiking trails around the property and cross country skiing in the winter. Serene and private, yet close enough to the center of Callicoon, the Sullivan Hill House is great for families, large groups, couples seeking a romantic getaway and more. A bit about the house: The main house centers around a two-story stone fireplace and living room. The first floor has kitchen, dining area, laundry, two bedrooms (one outfitted with bunk bed) plus bath. Sleeps ~5. Second floor has master bedroom with private porch, study, bath with jacuzzi, and reading nooks on the balcony. Also, extra room with futon bed. Sleeps ~4 Cozy guest house has sleeper couch, one bedroom and one bath, plus its own kitchen and laundry. Sleeps ~3 Second floor of the guest house has 4 beds and a crib. Sleeps ~4 Extra air mattress, sleeps 2. Baby crib available. Our family has deep roots in the local community, and after living in New York and Chicago, have returned part-time to plant an organic apple orchard on a neighboring property. The House @ Seminary Hill is a hike or a short drive away from the heart of the historic Main Street in Callicoon, with it’s untouched rustic vibe, charming antique and home decor shops, Sullivan County’s only movie theatre and refreshing farmers markets. Catch live music and share a drink with the locals, or pick up some wine and cheese for a private riverside picnic. Sullivan County’s boundless nature is ready to be explored, with eagles flying overhead and streams running by. From the front door of the Sullivan Hill House, you have hiking and cross-country ski trails at your service, and nearby are fly-fishing sites. Ride a bike, take a swim - get outdoors! An easy 2 hour drive from NYC (also accessible by bus), the Sullivan Hill House is close enough for a nice walk or bike ride to Callicoon, or a quick ride in the car. We do **weddings** as well! We have multiple places on the property where the wedding can be held including a real apple orchard.
