Centrally situated around 100m from the shops in Les Collons 1800 and 500m from the Trabanta chair-lift. You will enjoy an unforgettable experience in this generously proportioned 190m2 detached chalet where you will relax and feel at home in this picturesque alpine retreat. Perfect holiday home all year round. Tucked away off the main road through the pretty village of Thyon-Les Collons, 1800, this is only of the only properties located so centrally. You'll stay in a picture-perfect detached and spacious luxury chalet of traditional Swiss style, yet only a few years old and has been stylishly presented inside with plenty of alpine charm. Personal touches have been added to make this a home from home, where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Inside, this 190m2 spacious chalet offers 4 double bedrooms, all with modern ensuite bathrooms, fitted wardrobes and either a balcony or terrace with uninterrupted views across the valley. A spacious open living/kitchen/dining area with a log-burner, with an additional chillout space in the form of a mezzanine with a sofa-bed, allowing the chalet to accommodate up to 10 guests in total. Outside is a wrap around terrace, all rooms have access to a balcony or patio opening onto the garden. It also benefits from a ski and boot room, a sauna and free parking for two cars directly in front of the chalet. A driveway leads down to the property from the road with parking for 1-2 cars and the front door leading into the hallway with boot-room and cloakroom with WC and sink. Opening onto the spacious living area with a dining table seating 10-12 people, sofas that look onto the breath-taking panoramic south facing views of the mountains including the world famous Matterhorn, a log burning fire and fully kitted stylish contemporary kitchen with breakfast bar. Several sets of patio doors open onto the wrap around patio and sun terrace for alfresco dining in the summer months with a BBQ, outdoor dining and sun loungers. There are windows on every side of the building making this a bright and light property even on the less sunny days. A wooden open tread staircase leads up to the mezzanine chill-out area with doors opening onto a balcony and through to a large double bedroom with fitted wardrobes, ensuite bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle; with patio doors opening onto the balcony where you can watch the sun rise with your morning cup of tea. Leading down from the living area of the ground floor is a sauna where you can unwind after a day on the slopes and relax those tired muscles, one double bedroom with walk in wardrobe, patio doors opening onto the rear garden, and an ensuite with both bath and shower cubicle. Also on the lower ground floor is the service room with a washing machine and tumble drier, sink and clothes horse. Our chalet host will look after you during your stay and will make arrangements with you regarding your arrival and departure and we are available by email or phone for any queries or issues. The 4 Vallees is the largest linked ski area in Switzerland and one of the largest in Europe with over 410 km of pistes and more than 90 lifts. The skiing on offer provides a wide range of experiences plenty of skiing available for all levels with long wide runs that are often virtually empty. It benefits from some of the most extensive and varied off-piste skiing in the world and the Mont Fort Glacier at 3330m, is certainly a challenge and is not for the fainthearted. From the top of the glacier, you can see across to the Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc. The Printze ski pass covers Thyon-Les Collons, Veysonnaz and Nendaz (three of the 4 Vallees), this would be enough for most skiers for a week away, but Verbier is only over the pass at Mont Fort and is only an hour away on skis via a day’s extension or the 4 Vallees ski pass for all 412 km of pistes. There are a couple of snowparks with Verbier’s at 2842m, the venue for Big Air competitions every season and Centralpark at Thyon where you can watch some tricks performed by experts and novices alike. Apres-Ski is a big part of the Alpine experience and there are plenty of mountain bars and cafes including the Teepee at Thyon 2000 where there are often live bands performing throughout the season. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants and bars in the Village. Thyon-Les Collons is a fabulous dual season village which benefits from 300 sunny days a year and boasts a huge number of mountain trails and winding alpine roads making it ideal for mountain bikers, road cyclists and hikers looking for that next challenge. Many gondolas have mountain bike attachments and hoses at the lift stations to wash down your bike before heading back up. You can even hire electric mountain bikes to tackle the inclines, just a couple of minutes away. Lake Dix can be reached by cable car where you can then take a walk around the lake admiring the breath-taking views. The Grande Dixence Dam is the world’s highest gravity dam. You can hike across the mountains with all the routes signposted with varying challenging gradients. A number of the alpine restaurants stay open for the summer season so you can stop, take a break and savour the blue-sky views. Half an hour away is the Sion Golf Club overlooked by vineyards and surrounded by the most spectacular views. Only 10 minutes away, are stables where you can go horse riding along the mountain paths and experience the peace and tranquility of the mountain. The Valais region is known for its apricots and wines, with a vineyard just at the foot of the mountain in Sion where they offer wine tasting tours. There are plenty of thermal spas across the region, where you can relax and unwind after a day trekking across the mountain. There’s plenty to entertain the children with a playground just at the top of the driveway to the chalet, and an indoor swimming pool at Thyon 2000 - 5 minute drive away. Chalet Amelíe is situated in a small village called Thyon-Les Collons in the Val d’Herens region of Valais, in Vex, just in the mountains above the town, Sion. This is part of the well known 4 Valleys area of Switzerland. By Air Nearest airport is Sion and flights only currently run during the peak winter season with Swiss with a Saturday service. Then it is a 20 min car transfer up the mountain which you can request from your chalet host with prior notice. Geneva airport is the next closest airport with a 1hour 45 drive and you can either hire a car for the holiday. Or take the train from inside the airport and enjoy a 2 hours scenic trip along the lake and through the valley before arriving at Sion, where a car transfer can be arranged which will be 20 minutes up to the chalet. If you hire a car, be aware that it is a legal requirement to have snow chains. By Car Travelling through Switzerland is very easy and you will need buy an annual motorway toll at the Swiss border for 40 Swiss Francs. From Sion, it is a 20 minute journey up the mountain roads and then into Thyon-Les Collons. You will need snow chains and also be aware of the legal requirements of driving in Switzerland. There are regular buses up and down the mountain and some free parking. Cleaning cost is chf 300 per stay which is paid through Airbnb when you book. Please let us know the room configuration you need in advance so beds can be made for you. Security deposit chf 500 payable to your Chalet Host on arrival in cash or by card. Additional services your chalet host can offer at additional cost : Firewood Transfers from Sion and back Snow/ice Please be aware that in winter, conditions are be dangerous and whilst we make every effort to make the access to the chalet as clear as possible, we would advise guests to wear appropriate footwear with good grip and take care going up and down driveway by foot. It is a requirement to have snowchains in Switzerland so please use them when necessary. The driveway is steep so please be careful. Ski boots are not permitted to be worn inside the chalet. Rubbish must be disposed of in the canton approved bin bags and placed in the village bins. These bin bags can be purchased at the supermarket or tourist office.
