Kassiopi is one of the most popular summer resorts and a gathering point for many Hollywood celebrities as it provides the ideal privacy needed combined with the astonishing natural beauty. Nature has mastered itself on this North-east point of Corfu. It is a village that boasts some of the most beautiful, crystal-clear beaches of the island such as Bataria, Kanoni, Kalamionas and Avlaki beach. The nearest beach is about (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) min on foot. A walk around the ubiquitous, little souvenir shops on the cobbled, main street of Kassiopi seems to be a “must”. Have a look at "Paul's boutique" and "Beautiful" .There is, also, a variety of cafeterias and restaurants to choose from, either located around the square of kassiopi or along the harbour. Taste the Greek cuisine in "Janis", "Uncle Simos", "Tavernaki", "Old School" or the more upmarket "Wave" and "Trilogia" restaurants. For souvlaki lovers, you can try "Thraka", "The Best" or "no.7". There is also the notable fishing tavern "Imerolia" where you can eat fresh fish and a worth-visiting traditional italian pizzeria "The Little Italy".Afterwards, you may enjoy some of the best coctails at "Virginia's place" or a drink at "Limani Bar" and "Wave Bar". Up until recently, the village of Kassiopi has been noted for its traditional essence and the picturesque, little harbour of it. Its harbour, though, serves as a seminal fishing point in the North, so you will probably witness fishing boats arriving with the daily catch. You can also rent your own boat to sail along the deep blue coast even if you have not tried it before. Otherwise, there are daily cruises organised. You can find further information in "San Stefanos Boats" and "Fulvia Travel". Last but not least, Kassios Dias Trail Race is organised every year in Kassiopi around April and May. It's been an established annual tradition, so far, which has attracted people from all across the world. Even if you are not to be in Corfu during the dates of the race, you may try the unique but demanding trails addressed to experienced runners and avid hikers. HISTORY: Important ancient relics are found in Kassiopi as, in antiquity, it is said to have been a prehistoric city of Corinthian rhythm. In the 13th century, the subsequent fortifications of the harbour led to a fortress , built from the Anjevins, rulers of Corfu at the time (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , and was considered one of the most strategically important fortresses of the island. Later on, the Venetians burned the fortress to the ground and rebuilt their own one, the ruins of which are spotted along the hillside. That is the place where emperor Nero and philosopher Cicero are reputed to have taken a rest stop. There are buses from Kassiopi to Corfu Town and Sidari, with intermediary stops. There will be further notice upon request, as the itineraries are constantly changing depending on the season. For car rental services contact " Yiannis Rent A Car" and "Fulvia Travel".
