Rural cottage with Quantock views, Somerset

Recently renovated farm annexe nestled at the foot of the Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located 4 miles from Taunton in the isolated hamlet of Pickney. This peaceful rural setting with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside is a great place for getting away from it all, relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying some outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, pony trekking or alpaca walking. The cottage is suitable for families, couples or groups of friends. As you enter the property there is a bright sunroom with ample space for your outdoor clothing. This leads onto a fully equipped spacious kitchen/diner. Perfect for those who enjoy cooking with a large oak table, great for sharing big meals around. Also on the ground floor, the welcoming living room has comfortable sofas, and is a great space for reading, games, drawing or curling up to watch a film. There are two sofas, a tv and dvd player and plenty of books, games and DVDs to keep you entertained on rainy days or evenings. From the living room there are French doors opening up to your own private walled patio with an awning, excellent for soaking up the sun. To the rear of the cottage guests also have full access to their private garden with bbq, outdoor furniture and wood fired hot tub. On the first floor there is a family bathroom with shower over bath, towels are provided for guests. There is one double bedroom and one twin/king bedroom as the single beds can lock together to become a king sized bed. Both bedrooms have beautiful far reaching views of the Quantock hills and open countryside. EXTRA FACILITIES AND INFORMATION This well equipped cottage also has; a hairdryer, iron, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, BBQ facilities and there is a travel cot, highchair and stair gate available for little ones with prior request. Guests can check in themselves using a key safe. We live on site so can be available to assist when necessary, but also will respect your privacy. You will be located in some truly beautiful countryside where only the sound of birds, horses and the odd tractor passing by will disturb you. You will be staying on the edge of a night sky area which means that on clear nights you will be treated to a truly remarkable evening of star gazing. We have a small herd of alpacas and offer alpaca walking experiences on site. There is a footpath that runs through the farm which you can take to the picturesque villages of Kingston St Mary, with a fantastic pub (The Swan) 2 miles, or to Bishops Lydeard, 2 miles, with lots of local amenities, including an excellent brewery and a steam train that will take you out to the coast on a day trip. For a more strenuous hike you can follow the footpath to the top of the Quantock Hills and escape into nature with views as far as Wales and towards Glastonbury. This cottage is in a rural location so having your own means of transport is probably advisable. There is plenty of off road parking for cars and secure space to lock bikes. The nearest public bus stop is to the local Villages of Bishop Lydeard and Kingston St Mary. Taunton train station is 4 miles away. PLEASE NOTE - Well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior arrangement and a cost of £15 per stay. - Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds that can combine to make 1 king size bed. - Please let us know if you would like to use the hot tub in advance as we will need to get it ready for you. We provide lots of wood but if you need more we can sell this to you for £10 per wheelbarrow. - We are not on mains water, we have a private bore hole for general use and provide bottled drinking water. After heavy rain the bore hole water occasionally becomes slightly discoloured. - Being in a rural location we have opted to use 4G internet to get a decent speed. This is great for standard internet use but is limited for streaming films and tv. - For those who wish to bring their bikes there are secure spaces you can lock your bikes and a wash down area after those fun days out on the hills.
