Large private bedroom suite (~550 SF), 2 queen beds + 2 queen inflatable beds & a supple leather sofa & Billiard table on 2nd floor of beautiful home situated on 10 private acres, 18 miles from Downtown Lafayette-choose from quiet solitude or south Louisiana culture at full blast!! First, please check about availability before you try to book; and, don't forget to check the other listing(s): https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5021364 This space is a huge, private suite, on the 2nd floor of a beautiful & well furnished 5 BR 4 BA home, on 10 very private acres, bordered on one side by 1/2 mile of frontage on Bayou Bourbeau, a tributary of Bayou Teche, yet only 15 miles north of Downtown Lafayette, LA. There are about (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Square Feet of covered porches, and a separate large round deck anchored by a massive, wood-fired, old world pizza and bread oven, with granite counters on which I can make pizza and cut and serve the pies that cook in less than 180 seconds... This space is a large, upstairs bedroom suite with a private bathroom and separate exercise room. It is almost 700 SF with 4 queen beds total, a supple leather sofa and a pool table with a private bathroom that includes a deep soak tub with shower and a sink. The entire house is also potentially available by special arrangement, with or without catered meals, and can potentially sleep 12+. If you are potentially interested in the entire house, check ahead, because we live near the "Happiest City" in the United States - that is, Lafayette, Louisiana (for folks who haven't seen this famous study.) If this place is not available, and you need a recommendation of a place nearby, I have some great friends who are very close that I'd love to connect you with. You'll be at the epicenter of Cajun and Creole culture, minutes away from the "Prairie Parishes" to the west, and the Atchafalaya Basin and the mighty Mississippi River and beyond, to the east. Dancing, music, nature, biking, antique shopping, birding, excellent dining, art and crafts, a great little theatre and one-of-a-kind cultural events including annual festivals for every thing you can imagine, not to mention the culturally authentic celebration of Mardi Gras, the Courir de Mardi Gras. While here, guests can explore the property on nature walks, and are welcomed to use the outside decks, as well as the large downstairs living room. The washer and dryer are also available if needed, as is the kitchen, and private, catered gourmet meals are sometimes available by special request, for a small extra charge. Please inquire at booking if interested, and allow at least one week advance notice. My guests are all fellow AIRBNB members - and most are independent. I welcome them into my home, and strive to make their stay and local experience memorable, comfortable, and FUN!. I respect their privacy, and expect them to respect mine, but I love to share the adventurous lives that are found here in SWLA. I have created a very unique, one-of-a-kind gem, nestled in an environment that spurs creative thinking, artistic inspiration, relaxation, quiet reflection and meaningful conversation - OR- they can hear local storytelling, dine on world-class food & enjoy libations, music, dancing, laughing, let-your-hair-down type of celebrating... So, it all depends what guests want., with as much or as little as they desire.... Some guests want to be left alone to do their own thing, while others want more guidance, and like to hear about things to do, places to see, and great food to eat. Sometimes my schedule is laid back and other times I must travel during the day and so it all depends. Guests who need more than usual... whether they want the entire place to themselves, or will need ideas, suggestions, or catered meals.... will need to check with me during booking to see what's possible during the time they will be staying here. The House is a traditional "Acadian Style" of architecture, where the roof overhangs and covers a porch. It was built in the late (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) 's, but was constructed using old, reclaimed cypress lumber, and antique, recycled doors, a fireplace mantle, and other such materials in many places. In January (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , a fire damaged an exterior wall, and inspired a massive remodel and addition of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) SF. Coincidentally, following the rebuild, the ensuing decor leaned towards more contemporary styling, and the result became a modern space within a traditional, old antique shell. The house is not visible from the road, but is set way back off of a small country highway, keeping it very quiet. This part of SW LA is an area that is highly populated by musicians, and culinary & visual artists and I love having artists as neighbors. The house was featured as the cover story in the May/June (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Issue of Acadiana Living Magazine... see the photographs. Once you get into Lafayette, there is public transportation, including UBER and LYFT, and if you are here for a big Event like the Festival International or any of the Mardi Gras parades, you might be able to find others to carpool with. Check out the pictures from the May/June (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Issue of Acadiana Living Magazine. What to Do while you're here? How long you got? Here's just the tip of the iceberg for fun... depending on when you're here, there will be other things to do & see, and GREAT FOOD to eat, oh my.... MARDI GRAS - This part of the state has the Courir de Mardi Gras, which is closer to the original version of the rural French celebration, a pre-Lenten day of revelry. Mardi Gras Day is always on Tuesday, and it falls anywhere from early February to mid-March. Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" and it's always the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent, and is always 46 days before Easter, which can fall on any Sunday from March 23 to April 25, with the exact date to coincide with the first Sunday after the full moon following a spring equinox... Yea. Dates for the next 4 years: (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) OTHER GREAT REASONS TO COME: - Festival International - Late April - (Website hidden by Airbnb) "Festival" is FREE, and includes hundreds of bands from all over the world, playing on 5 separate stages, that are set up in public parks and other locations in downtown Lafayette. It is usually the week before the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, but there are no $75 daily tickets to buy or long lines to stand in for food, water or bathrooms.... because it's FREE, and you can come and go as you like! - Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival - May - (Website hidden by Airbnb) - Festival Acadiens - October - (Website hidden by Airbnb) - Blackpot Festival - End of October - (Website hidden by Airbnb) - Steampunk-Makers Fair - (Website hidden by Airbnb)
