Quaint Cabin in Schroon

This quaint, rustic, one room log cabin was originally built for overflow family during the summer by my father. The cedar logs were cut from our property giving it a truly authentic Adirondack feel. The cabin sleeps 1-3 people. It's located on a large, beautiful piece of property with two main houses, a barn and garage. You are within walking distance to our private swimming hole and beach. There is a horse arena nearby. This is a great location for many attractions in the Adirondacks. To help alleviate inquiries and to be very clear about our listing: The cabin is a ONE room cabin. The bathroom is separated with a curtain. There is a kitchen sink, but no bathroom sink. The sink is just steps away from the bathroom. There is a pullout couch for an extra guest if needed. We provide a fire pit, chairs, picnic table, grill and firewood. The firewood is cut, split and stacked by my children. We ask you kindly leave a tip for their hard work. We CANNOT at this time accept any animals on the property. We love dogs and own several, so in order to protect your animals and our own, we will not be accepting them. The Northway DOES run near our property. It CAN be heard, but you CANNOT see it. The whole property is surrounded by woods. You will be left completely alone, however, if you're looking for complete isolation and quiet, this is probably not the property for you. There is running hot water, electric, toilet, shower, refrigerator, kitchenette, microwave, and Keurig. Towels, flatware, dishes, gas grill. There is also a tv that plays DVDS. We have a trunk with many selections. The bed is a queen bed with a memory foam pillow top mattress. There is no AC, but fans in each window for air flow. There is a fire pit with sitting chairs and an outside hose for cleaning uses and to put fire out. The cabin is located on a big piece of property with 2 other houses, a garage and barn. You will NOT be completely secluded here, but still very much private. Please make sure you understand this before booking! You may see people, you will see horses, and you may see an occasional dirtbike heading into the woods. We offer kayaks to our guests on a first come, first serve basis. As long as they are down there, you are welcome to use them. The only space shared with anyone is our swimming hole. There are no life guards on duty, please swim at your own risk. Bring your bathing suit and travel a short beaten path to our private swimming hole in Schroon River. There is access for kayaks, tubes or just lounging in the water. View the Schroon falls just at the end of the driveway or take trails to explore a brook and beautiful woods. We are a short 8 min drive into the town. Someone will always be available to answer questions and help if needed. We have lived here a long time and know much of the area with tips and advice if desired for a great stay. We do ask guests to stick to the 10mph speed limit on driveway. There are children on the property as well as other people coming and going occasionally with bends in the road. We ask that if you use the firewood to be kind and leave a tip for my children who cut, split and stack it for you. Our cabin is 8 minutes from the village/lake and offers serval restaurants and hiking opportunities. We have a folder located on the table of the cabin full of ideas, directions and our favorite places to check out. You will find this cabin VERY user friendly. We have taken our time to make this place as enjoyable as we can and take our guests feedback seriously. We are 40 min from Lake George, and an hour from Lake Placid. We are 30 minutes from Keene valley, the famous high peaks, and 20 min from Ticonderoga. We own river frontage so you are welcome to walk the short path to Schroon River and enjoy kayaking, swimming and fishing. The swimming area itself, while private, may have other guests using it. The kayaks are a first come, first serve basis. If using the kayaks, please use the life jackets provided and only take the kayaks UP stream. The floating dock is to be enjoyed by all. Please no diving. Swim at your own risk. The water will be chilly during ALL months except the END of June, July and August. The Cabin itself is a ONE room cabin. The bathroom is separated by a curtain with a toilet and shower but no sink. There is a fully working sink in the kitchen area. We offer a pullout couch for an extra guest if needed. We provide all bedding and towels for our guests. This is a big piece of property with 2 other homes on it. You will see the other homes but will still be completely on your own, with your own space. There is a grill, picnic table, chairs and firepit. We provide wood for our guests and kindly ask you to leave a tip (if using the wood) as it's cut, split and stacked by my children. Interstate 87 runs behind our property. You cannot see this, however, in the busy season, you may be able to hear it at times. If you are looking for complete isolation this may not be the place for you as you will see two houses and at times people, horses and dogs. There are horses on the property. You are welcome to come and say hi to them. They are friendly. Please don't feed them. We do not offer trail rides or lessons at this time. Sometimes an older horse is loose on the property eating grass, that's normal:) You are welcome to pet her if she will let you. She will most likely think you are going to capture her, so may walk off. We have lived here a long time and know the area very well. If you are looking for something specific to do, see, or experience, we can help, so let us know! We are off of Route 9, which you can't see from cabin, and 8 minutes from the Schroon Lake villiage. Hopping onto Interstate 87 is easy and quick. There is lots of room to run and explore. Things you may want to know: There is no sink in the bathroom. The kitchen sink is a few steps away. There is no AC, but fans in each window for air flow. The cabin is located on a large piece of property with other buildings on it. There are 2 main houses as well as a garage with an apartment and two barns. A horse arena is near the cabin where we occasionally give horseback riding lessons. There are no main roads within sight, but interstate 87 does run behind the woods. You are still very private here. There will be zero tolerance for partying on the property. If you are looking to party with lots of drinking, please look elsewhere for a rental. Any damage done to the rental, or surrounding property, the guest(s) will be responsible in restitutions. While the swimming hole is privately owned, at times it is used by my family and possible other air bnb guests. This is the only space you may need to share with family and/or other guests. There is plenty of room to share and a floating dock during the hot season to jump off, no diving please! There are no life guards on duty. Please swim at your own risk. You are more than welcome to kayak up the river, it's beautiful! We have several kayaks you may use on a first come, first serve basis. Please do not take the kayaks down the river but paddle up. There is a small water fall 500 feet from the beach, which would destroy the kayaks in the low water. Feel free to bring your own kayaks. If you bring your own equipment, you may put in after the falls for a nice ride down Schroon River. While the horses are well-behaved, we do not offer riding lessons or trail rides at this time. Feel free to pet. Please do not feed. We plan to leave our guests alone unless they want to visit or ask questions. We realize that people come to the ADKS to escape it all and in no way want to be overwhelming. We have worked very hard to make this rental VERY user friendly and we take our guests feedback very seriously. We know this area very well and have lived here a long time.
