My family has gathered with friends and family here for over 120 years. We are happy to share this magical place with you and your considerate guests (not wild parties) Historic home set on private acreage overlooking field, lake, and forest centrally located to Hudson Valley and Connecticut region. Ask about events! Step back in time to this amazing house privately ensconced in forest field and lake yet 1 hour from Manhattan, and be sure to consider a second-night discount stay. Large 3 season enclosed porch overlooking huge yard field and lake with a beautiful classic swing on giant 250-year-old maple. Wander the ample grounds with magical hideaway nooks or warm yourself by the fireplace in the library. Adirondack chairs and picnic table huge outdoor area with 2 person hammock. *Two additional attic bedrooms with 3 twin beds are available for bigger groups at $100 additional cost. *Must climb steep stairs to Attic rooms and 2 twin attic beds are not suitable in mid-summer heat or mid-winter cold. Consider this is a historic house, not a modern resort, with historical details throughout the entire home including pull chain lights. The kitchen and bath were updated for home use. This is our ancestral family home and I live here in a lovely unlisted suite with a bathroom. I do enjoy spending time away while guests are here but will hope to greet you and be available during your visit. Please ask about long-term entire home rentals. History The original house was built in 1778 and was renovated in 1900 by my aunt Edith Diehl a renowned bookbinder, suffragette, and leader in the Women's Land Army during WWI. 4 bedrooms, sleeps ten, with one bathroom in suite. Two simple sweet attic bedrooms with 3 additional twin beds available for bigger groups at additional cost. *Must climb steep stairs to attic rooms and 1 attic room not suitable for midsummer heat or mid winter cold.* Simple kitchen, dining room, bar pantry, living room, library with fireplace enclosed 3 season porch gardens, and grounds. I live in the house in a lovely unlisted suite. I will likely be here during your stay and we enjoy being able to share this magical space with considerate respectful people. Ask about long term, entire home rentals. The property is are surrounded by forest, lake and neighboring cottage Taxi or lyft 4 miles to Metro North Brewster station. By car 1.5 miles North of I-84 & I-684 interchange. Recently had photographers and models stay with us and we were featured in Vogue Italia! Check out the new photos in our profile. 2 elder cats, Willow and Nutmeg, and an adorable free-roaming Angora Rabbit, Zorya, live here too. They do not enter any of the other rooms and mostly like to be in our private suite. Willow is a social butterfly though, and loves massages and sitting on laps.
