We are a small vegan guesthouse in the heart of Kinross and an aspiring micro sanctuary. Our guesthouse reflects our own ethos of living, which is simple and welcoming. We are trying to grow our own vegetables, and have a large garden where our four rescue hens free range. In addition to our hens, we see many wild birds in the garden. Our hens are very friendly and would love to meet you, but they do consider the garden to be their own and throw a bit of dirt around while hunting for bugs! You are welcome to enjoy our garden and will probably get a friendly and warm welcome from the hens. Please note, we are slowly renovating parts of our property so there might be some building material on the driveway. This cosy single room in our annex is a perfect place to explore Kinross and the local area from. It is located on the ground floor, and has a south facing window giving a lot of natural light! We offer home cooked meals for a small charge. Please let us know of any allergies before you arrive, specifically for nuts as all rooms have homemade instant porridge pots containing nuts which we can replace with nut-free ones. Please do check the house rules for information about non vegetarian food, and the use of some amenities offered. There are two free carparks within a minutes walk of our house with security cameras, and there is limited short stay parking right outside our front door. The town center and loch are both a 5 minute walk from our house, and there is a bicycle rental shop near to us as well. We are more than happy for you to store bicycles in our garden or in your room for security, and have a garden hose you can use for cleaning them off. Access to this listing is via our driveway, which is located on a quiet side street. Vee and Mitch both work from home. Mitch manages most of the guesthouse while Vee is working on her degree. We’re happy to have as much or as little interaction with you as you would like. We want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, and so if you have any issues at all during your stay please let us know as soon as you are able to so we can remedy them. With our central location we are close to many cafes, restaurants and takeaways. The local Co-op is only 5 minutes walk away, and we are only 15 minutes walk from the nearest supermarket which is also where the Megabus picks up and drops off passengers. Loch Leven is an RSPB nature reserve and even has a small castle in the loch where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned. It is also popular for bird watching and it is surrounded by rolling hills which make for an excellent day hike. On the North shore of the loch are the Scottish Lavender Fields which are beautiful in summer. Kinross is an excellent base to explore further afield, with easy access to Perth, Dunfermline, Stirling, Dundee and Edinburgh. There are several bus services to nearby towns, and there is a bus stop right outside our house. In addition, there are walking routes nearby and easy access to the motorway, a park and ride, and national cycle routes.
