Located ideally in peaceful Lancaster County, PA, this home is situated conveniently halfway between downtown Lancaster and Lititz (voted "America's Coolest Small Town" in 2013!). Also near Amish country and great outlet shopping. We have it all! This home is a great blend of a quiet, peaceful place while being close to all of the things you want to do in the area: downtown Lititz (voted "Coolest Small Town in America" in 2013), downtown Lancaster, Amish country, lots of famous outlet shopping and much more. The house is a well-appointed townhome with a living room, kitchen/dining room, TV room, 1.5 baths and 2 furnished bedrooms. There is also outdoor seating on a front porch as well as a deck in the back of the house. Within easy walking distance (5 minutes), there are a number of shops and restaurants as well as a public park with jogging/walking trails, sporting areas and playgrounds. PLEASE NOTE: This home is shared with a VERY friendly cat who has no fear of people and WILL want to interact with you. If you are not into cats (especially clingy ones with no sense of personal space), this may not be the accommodation for you. Guests will enjoy a private room with a full bed that accommodates 1 or 2 people. The bathroom will be shared and all amenities will be provided: towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, etc. Guests are welcome to make themselves comfortable in other parts of the house as well: living room, dining room, kitchen, TV room, outdoor sitting areas. I really do want you to feel like you're at home while you're here! Some of my best travel experiences have been those that involved getting to know or staying with a local and learning about the "real" life in a place. I'm happy to do as much or as little of this for you as you would like. If you're interested, I can tell you about great places to eat and drink, the coolest sites, museums, local events, shopping, etc. But if you have your own plans and don't need my help, that's fine too. For the most part, I will be around and available both to welcome you upon arrival and to help when/if needed. If I won't be for some reason, I'll let you know that up front. Basically, I'm here to help you in any way that I can if you would like, but also willing to make myself scarce if you prefer to just hibernate in your room instead. :-) My home is plunked right in between Lancaster and Lititz so you have easy access to the best that both have to offer: LITITZ: Voted "Coolest Small Town in America" in 2013! There you'll find nearly 50 one-of-a-kind shops, more than 20 restaurants and eateries, dozens of historic buildings, a weekend farmer's market, museums, the beautiful Lititz Springs Park, Sturgis Pretzel Bakery (the oldest pretzel bakery in America), Wilbur Chocolate Co (you MUST try it) and much more. LANCASTER: Historic downtown Lancaster offers countless unique and locally owned restaurants and pubs, Gallery Row, museums, Central Market (America's oldest farmer's market), Wheatland (President James Buchanan's home), Fulton Opera House, numerous theaters, independent breweries and distilleries, and so much more. Nearby you'll find yourself immersed in the world-famous Amish Country, rolling farmlands, the Strasburg Railroad, amusement parks (Dutch Wonderland, HersheyPark), museums, renowned outlet shopping and so much more. Within 5 minutes walking distance from the house: a peaceful public park, several restaurants (a local favorite coffee shop, a fabulous Asian restaurant, a good ol' diner, Subway, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Little Caesar's, a frozen yogurt shop, etc.), a yoga studio, a nail salon, a dollar store and a few other various shops. Within easy driving distance: Harrisburg (45 mins), Historic Gettysburg (1.25 hrs), Philadelphia (1.5 hrs), Baltimore (1.5 hrs), Washington DC (2.5 hrs), New York City (3 hrs) There is a local bus system that has a stop about a block from my house. The service takes you to places like Lititz, Downtown Lancaster, stops in the heart of Amish Country, Park City Shopping Mall, the outlets and many other nearby towns. However, you will be best served if you have a car of your own to help you get around to all of the local things you'll want to see and do. There is free parking in a dedicated space right in front of my house. While I don't make a formal breakfast, I will happily show you where everything is and you'll be welcome to help yourself to whatever you would like to eat in the mornings. I always have coffee and tea as well as a varying selection of light breakfast foods like cereal, oatmeal, English muffins/jam, eggs, yogurt, etc. PLEASE NOTE: While I live alone, there is a cat in the house. For those with either an aversion to cats or a cat allergy, please be advised. For those without the above, brace yourselves for an awesome cat experience.
