Unique dwelling on 250 acres above the Cerrillos Hills: spectacular views, privacy and all of the amenities to enjoy a peaceful get-a-away. Site of many historic mines, including 2 of the oldest mines in North America. Adjacent to Cerrillos State Park with miles of beautiful trails. Guests enjoy use of RV, Hideout, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, and a plexiglass floor looking down into an old mine. We follow all Airbnb guidelines for cleaning protocols. Ask us about extra RV for larger parties. Special Monthly rates for folks looking to be in a beautiful secluded location with good wifi. Several wonderful restaurants nearby, a small convenience store in downtown Madrid, and large grocery in nearby Santa Fe (about 18 miles north). Two functional kitchens (outside/inside the Hideout and in the RV); 1 full bath in the RV. The outdoor kitchen can also serve as an outdoor dining area. The fire pit is can be used when fire-warning is at 2 or lower. (A sign at entrance to the town of Cerrillos lets you know the fire danger of the day). The Hideout, RV, Outdoor Kitchen and surrounding patios are for guest use exclusively. There is a caretaker on the property and a manager near-by who are available for questions and assistance. We can also provide private, historic mine tours for you for an additional rate. Horseback rides available close-by through the Broken Saddle (Cerrillos). You'll get to know Cerrillos and Madrid like few do! Cerrillos: Cerrillos Station (gift store, art gallery, yoga classes, farmers' market and information); Mary's Bar and Black Bird Saloon both have live music, the Black Bird has great food; The Casa Grande Trading Post, CerrillosTurquoise Mining Museum and Petting Zoo; St. Joseph's Catholic Church; Cerrillos Visitor's Center; Cerrillos State Park and a US Post Office. Madrid: an old mining town with a special history of its own, once abandoned and now revitalized into a one-of-a-kind, funky and fun art town with unique shops and people. The things to do are plentiful: two awesome restaurant/bars with great food and live music (The Hollar and the Mine Shaft Tavern), Java Junction coffee and gift shop, the Madrid Old Coal Town Museum, Turquoise Shops, Rug Shops, Sculpture and art galleries, the local community run KMRD radio station, a crystal shop, an herbalist, clothing stores, biker gear, etc. Cerrillos and Madrid are only 25 miles south of Santa Fe and 50 miles north of downtown Albuquerque. You will need a car to get around out here. We suggest a Four or All Wheel Drive, though the roads to the property are all in good condition. The nearest gas station is the Lone Butte (N on rt. 14 about 10 minutes) across the street from our favorite local brewery, Beer Creek Brewing Company (full menu, live music on certain nights, and you have to try their green chili cheesecake!!). > The water from tap is fine to drink but is kind of mineral'y. You can make coffee and cook with the tap water, but we provide filtered spring water for drinking. > Si parla italiano y un poquito de espagnol!
