Relax after a day of sightseeing, wine tasting, kayaking, or hiking in this elegantly appointed circa (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) National Landmark property. The home is over 2,700 sqft and features 4 bedrooms, 2 full ba, exquisite antiques, original artwork, and all the modern comforts you’d expect. The private grounds feature an in-ground heated pool, 5 person hot tub, deck, patios, off-street parking, and fire pit. Within blocks, choose from numerous taverns, historic sites, antique stores, and a winery. Don't just visit history, experience it as you and your guests enjoy staying in this unique historic home. The main block of Keller House was built by a prominent local merchant circa (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , incorporating the basement and detached kitchen from a previous residence built likely circa (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Keller House retains much of its original architectural detail while still offering central air-conditioning and modern bathrooms and kitchen. The home has 3 large bedrooms (3 queen-size beds) and 1 smaller bedroom (1 double), 2 full bathrooms, a large formal parlor, dining room, lounge, reading nooks, numerous desk/work areas, and loads of charm. Keller House is furnished with unique antiques from our personal collection and currently includes items from the estate of a past U.S. President as well as furniture used on the set of a movie about a previous U.S. President (feel free to ask for details). Keller House sits prominently on an original 1/2 acre lot in the heart of historic Funkstown, MD founded in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , and has plenty of outdoor space. The in-ground heated pool is 3-5 feet deep, has oversized steps into the water, and has a padded vinyl lining. During pool season (see additional notes section for details) the pool is heated to a minimum of 80 degrees. The 5 person 30-jet hot tub with ambient lighting and waterfall feature is available year-round. The deck and patios have plenty of furniture to lounge on, and the back lot has enough space to play football or soccer. There is also a propane grill, a fire pit, and two outdoor dining tables. Keller House twice served the Nation as a hospital, first after the Battle of Antietam, and most notably, during the retreat from Gettysburg when the Battle of Funkstown broke out on July 10, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) In the aftermath of this large battle, this home, the historic Chaney House directly across the street (currently Hudson House Antiques), the neighboring Town Hall (formerly Christ's German Reformed Church), and other notable houses throughout Funkstown were commandeered as hospitals. We welcome you to step back in time and enjoy this spacious, elegant, and one of a kind of experience in Maryland’s Heart of the Civil War Heritage area. Parties/events are not allowed. Guests have private use of the entire house, pool, hot tub, decks, fire pit, and large back-lot, which can be used for parking or a game of football or kickball. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking equipment and table settings for 8+ including glassware. The Keller House Team is comprised of me (Ben), my husband (Tom), and our Mother (Cynthia). We live a few miles away and are available to help guests anytime between 8am and 9pm EST via the Airbnb app, unless it is an emergency (see house guide for emergency contacts if needed). During your stay, we typically stop by (with prior notification) every other day during pool season to clean and care for the pool, hot tub, and gardens.
