Eagles Nest
Forested treehouse-like cabin on a cliff. Known locally as the "Eagles Nest." This is a thousand square foot 2 bedroom 2 bath cabin that was built by locally well-known artisan/builder Paul Fourgues. While it is nestled in the canopy of the Northwest-facing slopes of forest falls, it is also high on a massive boulder, giving the feel of being suspended over the canyon. The inside is redone, with a loft master bath with a california king-size bed. It is a romantic hide-away. The driveway is navigable, but it is better if you back up and go in the light of day. There is a fire place. You can use the entire cabin, it borders National Forest, parking is private at the cabin but if you park in the forest you will need a forest Adventure Pass. if you go up to Forest falls but park in the dirt parking lot rather than the paved parking lot you do not need a forest adventure pass. The canyon only works with Verizon, so if there is a problem, if you have a different network, you have to drive about 2 miles to the main road to get a signal to call. if you set your phone to roaming you may be able to initiate some communication. At the top of the draw where the cabin is located, there is a spring that supplies the water for the neighborhood. At the bottom of the draw is a crystalline stream that in late summer is lined with blackberries. The center of Forest Falls is shaded by stately Cedar trees with delightful shops and a very good Mexican restaurant. A few minutes drive is historic downtown Yucaipa, one valley over are apple orchards with shops and restaurants, and the acclaimed University of Redlands is 10 miles away. Big Bear and Snow Summit are about 45 minutes away in good weather. The elevation of the cabin is around 5400 feet. It snows in the winter, but rarely get snowed-in, although.. it can happen. If the weather is bad, it may be better to park at the bottom of the driveway. At the top of Forest Falls canyon is a must see water fall, if you are up for a 20 minute hike. This is a quiet, HOA mountain community. Please, no parties or excessive noise. try and plan your trip so that you arrive at the Eagle's Nest during daylight hours. the driveway is challenging, and you also don't want to miss sunset from the porch. I recommend that you back up the driveway with your car, it is easier to go down on the driveway if your car is pointed straight forward. also please review the gallery before you go up so you will see the discreet signage that marks driveway
