Bell tent in remote area of canterbury City
Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Glide down to the sea on a bicycle or check out the wildlife trails nearby… a 15-minute drive or 35-minute pedal down to Whitstable's seafront and with Canterbury 15 minutes’ drive in the other direction, Fleets Paddock Camping is nicely set up for a break by the cathedral city with oyster munching, sailing or steering a powerboat on-hand down by the shore. While the sea and city are close by, this dog-friendly and family-friendly site is in quite a rural spot, behind the scenes of Blean village. Backed by a nature reserve, the village is home to a pub with a merry beer garden and local ales, as well as a small food shop where you may scoop up any forgotten or dwindling supplies. Whether it’s a family getaway, solo escapade or romantic bush hideaway you’ve got in mind, the highlight of the evening may very well be the site’s large communal firepit, which is surrounded by log seats. There are Swedish torches available on the site so you get cooking wild-style too. Those green-fingered folk in the group may also be happy to find that this site is keen to be friendly to the planet and uses composting loos. Other facilities include showers, just in case you've gathered a light layer of sweat while taking the cycle path down to the Whistable seafront. There is a large fire pit for everyone’s cooking requirements, with seating and mini nature trials for the kids We are available for any questions by phone or chat on arrival Attractions and activities nearby include: - Druidstone Park (wildlife park): five minutes’ drive - The Wildart Trail (sensory trail): 10 minutes - Tankerton Beach (shingle beach with sailing and swimming): 15 minutes - Crab And Winkle Way (cycling trail): 15 minutes - Whitstable (beach, harbour and seafood): 15 minutes - Canterbury (cathedral city): 15 minutes - Blean Woods National Nature Reserve (walking and cycling trails): 20 minutes - Herne Bay Beach (pebble beach): 20 minutes - St Cosmas & St Damian's Church (Saxon church): half an hour. Although the farm is out of bounds there is plenty of countryside to explore along an old railroad or throughout the Blean forest.
