Moss Cottage rents on a year lease. It is a cozy country retreat! Rustic 1950 style house surrounded by woods and meadows . A great location for home/office. Very private and peaceful. Close to variety of area attractions, such as NASCAR, Daveste Winery, Carolina Balloon Fest, Lazy 5 Ranch, Iredell County Fairgrounds and Horse Shows, Randys BBQ and all the great restaurants of Lake Norman area. The downstairs has two queen bedrooms with a seated shower bath. The upstairs has two rooms, one single bedroom and a separate parlor with a daybed that can be used as an additional sleeping area. The remodeled rustic modern kitchen has exposed timber ceiling beans, all new stainless Samsung appliances, modern cabinets with Caesarstone counter tops, a reclaimed wood island with stainless steel top, and a vintage wine bar. There are two living areas on the first floor. Cable TV, DVD, and Wifi is available. Guests can enjoy a natural setting among old growth oak trees and diverse wildlife. The back porch faces east with a nice view of the sunrise through the woods. It is a pleasant place to have morning coffee and watch the birds and chipmunks. Guests are welcome to pick any of the herbs or vegetables in the raised back yard gardens during the season. The Host does not live on property, but Ken the property manager will provide your key. He also takes care of gardens and is on call as needed. This land is a remaining part of the Murdock family's original Land Grant of 1764 that extended from Troutman to the Amity Hill Road. Moss Cottage is situated on the site of the farm of Joyce's great grandfather Albert Alexander Murdock, Esq. Moss Cottage was built on family property by Joyce's father as a starter home for his young family in 1950. He set up a sawmill and cut the timber on the property from old growth oak trees. Joyce hopes to preserve some of her family history with organic gardening and permaculture that was practiced by her family for generations as their a way of life. ICATS (Iredell County Area Transit). UBER Watch for the Peregrine Falcons that roost in this area and fly over occasionally. The NC Raptor Center near Charlotte releases them into this area periodically, and if you have time to visit the Raptor Center on Interstate 77 near Huntersville, it is very interesting.
