Set in beautiful private gardens with a river flowing through and lots of places to sit, relax & enjoy the outdoors. This fun little caravan space is ideal for a 1 or 2 person stay for a couple of nights. Ideally placed for reaching the best surf beaches of north devon, Woolacombe 10 mins one way and Saunton Sands and Croyde just 15 mins the other. Alternatively the walks and cycle trails are all right on our doorstep and there is the Woodpecker Bar & Kitchen for great grub right next door! It is only a caravan but it has everything you need for a short stay, hot power shower, little kitchen and it has a sofa bed as well as the double in the bedroom so can easily accommodate 2 friends as much as a couple or a single stay. The best thing is our location, stunning valley garden, surrounded by woodland and riverside walks , near the village of West Down and Braunton we’re right between all the best beaches north devon has to offer. Bustop outside can take you to all of them if you don’t want to drive and there is a fabulous bar and restaurant called The Woodpecker 2 mins walk away if you don’t want to cook! My husband is a mad surfer but if that’s not your thing, the trails for hiking and cycling are all on our doorstep! Of course you might not be looking to be energetic at all, in which case, peace and R&R can be found right here! Guests are welcome to enjoy access to most of the unique gardens here at Foxhunters; chill, relax, snooze, dream, do nothing, read a book in a hammock, picnic by the river, do your yoga amongst the flowers, stargaze at night. It’s what we love most about this place and we hope you do too! We will be here to give you a warm welcome and then we’re happy to give you your space and privacy. But you will no doubt see us around the gardens which need a lot of upkeep in the spring and summer so please feel free to come over or call us if you’d like a chat or information on the area or help with anything else. We look forward to meeting you and ensuring you have a lovely stay! We holidayed in Devon as a couple and then every year when our children were little; we surfed, skated, hiked and cycled and never wanted to leave! The outdoor lifestyle, the sea, the moors, the fresh air, the slower pace, the great food and the fantastic nights sleep after all that goodness made us feel revived every time. Finally we made the real move and it has been the best move ever. WiFi is slow, and yes, some of the country lanes are small and scary at first but you just can’t beat the good stuff. Every time I drive down to Woolacombe I’m blown away by the view! Favourite things to do •Walking to Puttsborough from Woolacombe ( there’s a lovely cafe at Putts) •A surf on saunton beach or running on the Burrows! •Cream tea on the terrace at saunton sands hotel •Nachos at the Thatch in Croyde after walking Baggy Point • ice cream- anywhere! • Visiting Marwood Hill Gardens • Exploring Lee Bay when the tides out or kayaking there and finishing with a lunch at the The Grampus Inn •Cycling the Tarka Trail from Braunton to Instow stopping at Fremmington Quay for refreshment! .Doing the Watersmeet to Contisbury National Trust Trail at Lynmouth (pretty sure I would squeeze in a lunch at Watersmeet!) • doing a full day gardening here at Foxhunters and then getting one of the super burgers from next door at The Woodpecker and sipping a beer by the river in the evening. • Sharing other secret places to go with friends and guests who stay! Travels is easy and straightforward by car to any of the main beaches and attractions from here. We have an electric charging point on site too. Parking is expensive everywhere in holiday season though, so make sure you have plenty of change and or go early! Early risers beat the crowds and sometimes parking charges don’t start till 9am! Or, better still cycle there or get the bus. You can hire boards and eqpt at the beach! Buses run every twenty minutes in both directions and can be caught from just outside. Due to the river and bridges and various levels and steps around the garden, we can’t make this a child safe space at the moment. Guests can use the grounds at their own risk. But this is why at the moment no children or dogs are allowed. Please also note, this is just a caravan and while clean and comfortable it is not perfect and needs some work but it’s a lot better than a tent! We have reflected these factors in the pricing and still guarantee you would have a great weekend here! We are looking forward to replacing ‘The Nook’ with a new log cabin soon which will be a significant upgrade in accommodation and we will keep you updated on this!
