THINGS TO NOTE WHEN BOOKING We have a strict policy of no parties and no smoking. SPA If you have a fake tan you must not enter the spa. MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION: This is a rural area and our property is in a blackspot. We are able to use the Optus Network at the top of our driveway and we get fleeting coverage around the property, but it is unlikely you will have coverage inside the home. We have wifi which may allow you to make and receive calls if your phone handset and network allow for it. We use WhatsAp or other apps to make and receive phone calls and if we need to use the mobile network, we walk to the top of the driveway or drive 1.5kms up to the Grand Ridge Rd where the coverage is very good for the Optus Network. The coverage for Telstra is similar to Optus in our area. For Vodaphone coverage, you will likely need to take a 5-10min drive. Check the Vodafone coverage maps on their website. INTERNET USAGE: This property is in a rural area with NBN via satellite. Our internet is slower than areas with cable NBN (max 25Mb/s) and we cannot get access to an unlimited package. We ask guests to be conscious of their internet usage during their stay. On arrival you will be given the wifi password. We have an Apple TV with Netflix, which you are welcome to use. However we ask you to adhere to the following house rules: 1. Streaming Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD) is ok, but please DO NOT stream movies or shows in Ultra High Definition (UHD). This includes certain releases on Netflix, Disney and other streaming services. 2. Please do not stream HD content from multiple devices at the same time (eg. kids on YouTube can use a lot of data very quickly) Suggestions: i) If you decide to have a movie-fest, please consider watching some DVD's instead of streaming everything. We have a wide variety of DVD's for you to choose from, and two TV's/DVD's. ii) Video gaming, web surfing and emails are not metered, so you are welcome to use as much internet as you like for these purposes. iii) Our Off-peak cap is rarely used during the designated time of 1pm to 7am, so the above rules do not apply during that time. PETS: Pets may be accommodated in some circumstances by special arrangement. Please note our cottage is in a rural area. The paddocks can get muddy at times. We also have livestock on the property from time to time to help keep the grass down. We can arrange for livestock to be removed for the duration of your stay, but cow pats and horse poo will remain and some dogs love to roll in it. To approve a pet, we will require assurance they are well behaved, will be supervised at all times and will be kept clean and dry if they enter the house. Please also note that snakes are common in rural areas. They are shy and prefer to stay away from humans, so it is unlikely you will see one. However dogs like to sniff them out. Our neighbour has lost 2 dogs to snake bites over the last 20 years. This is one of the reasons why it is essential for dogs to be well behaved and supervised if you bring them to Hallston Hills.
