The Stam Family Lodge on Tin Mill Hill

Enjoy a restful time in the central Black Hills surrounded by Ponderosa Pine and only 15 miles from Mount Rushmore. Stam Family Lodge on Tin Mill Hill is close to many exciting places to visit and is near an historic mining and milling site. With National Forest on two sides of the property, hiking and exploring opportunities abound. You have your own, newly constructed private walkout basement space with three bedrooms, full bath, kitchenette and living area with and additional queen-size futon sofa for a total of 1200 square feet of space. A private entrance and circle drive with parking allow you easy and personal access. Well water is tested per state requirements and is softened. You have total access to the private walk-out level. Mary, Sandy (our dog) and I live on the main floor and loft of the lodge and still work, but we can be available in the mornings and evenings if you need any information or additional items. Be aware we have hardwood floors, but we make every effort to keep any noise from our level from disturbing your stay. Only 1.5 miles from Hill City, we are close to one of South Dakota's top restaurants: the Alpine Inn. In addition, the 1880 train and the Mickelson Bicycling Trail are a short distance away. Ride the Hill City trolley or the 1880 Train for views of the forest and Hill City. In addition take some time to bicycle or hike the Mickelson Trail or the many National Forest and Wilderness trails nearby. The lodge is at over 5,100 ft. above sea level. Don’t be surprised if you notice the altitude. Make sure you drink plenty of water.
