By the lake, 30 minutes from Milan
Comfortable house in historic town, 5' by foot from lake Comabbio, 5' by car from Lake Maggiore, 30' by car from Milan. Kitchen with living room and bathroom at ground floor, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and terrace at 1st. floor. Fully equipped. Private parking inside the courtyard, closed with electric gate. Welcome! My house was built in the late 800's and was fully restored with taste in 2008 with 1st class materials, wooden parquet floor, natural stone tiles and exclusive furniture. The gate to the courtyard where the entrance is located, is electrically activated. At the ground floor there is a bright courtyard shared with the neighbors where is placed the private parking and an arcade where i keep the bikes. The Kitchen with dining room is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher, oven, fridge, cookers and, of course, pots, dishes, cutlery and all you may need to cook, eat and keep your food. There is also a lovely fireplace. The small bathroom at the ground floor is equipped with a washing machine. At the first floor, the bedrooms, from where you can see the lake Comabbio, are spacious, bright and 1 of them is equipped with a big closet. One of the bedrooms has the access to the terrace, a quiet spot full of plants where you can enjoy the afternoon sun. The bathroom at the 1st floor is comfortable, classy and fully equipped. Antonio and Anna, the neighbors, are a very kind couple that will assist you in case of need. You have access to broadband Wi-fi internet, private parking inside the courtyard, you can also use the bikes (two, now fully functional) and all the appliances. The courtyard is shared with the neighbors. The arcade and the terrace, despite being private, are areas where also the neighbors have access to, but don't worry, they are very kind and discreet people, who will do whatever they can to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I will receive you at the beginning of your stay, i will show you the house and answer to your questions; if you don't need anything else, we will meet again before leaving. Should you need anything, you can contact me on the phone or by email. Mercallo is a 1700 inhabitants-lovely historic town, that houses festivals, open air markets and other pleasant activities almost every weekend, especially in the spring-summer season. Most of it are organized in the lake area. Walking 500m from the house you can reach the Lake Comabbio bike-pedestrian 13km track, that takes you all around the lake, passing through the nearby towns of Corgeno, Varano Borghi, Ternate and Comabbio; i'm sure that during your walk or bike ride you will stop several times to admire the many lovely spots in the surroundings. The forests surrounding Mercallo are crossed by marked trails that can be visited safely. In a range of 200m from the house you will find: Minimarket, Bar, Pizzeria, bakery, Bank with ATM, Post office, Doctor, bike repair shop. There is a bus to/from Sesto Calende and Varese, but you'd better take a careful look to the timetable at the town square, because there are not buses available every 5'. I recommend to come by car or motorcycle to move around freely. If you come from the A26 highway, take the Sesto Calende- Vergiate exit, then then take the SS629 highway (follow Laveno - Luino directions) and after 2,5km turn left at the 2nd traffic light. From Milan Malpensa airport is a 15' ride by car, you have to cross the towns of Somma Lombardo and Vergiate, then take the SS629 highway (follow Laveno - Luino directions) and after 2,5km turn left at the 2nd traffic light. Getting around, don't miss the Lake Monate, with lovely beaches where you can take a bath in its limpid waters. Main attraction is the Lake Maggiore, one of Italy's most beautiful, where just traveling around and stopping here and there can be simply magical. If you make the tour by motorcycle, is even better. Take the ferry or go by car to Arona, Verbania, Borromeo islands, Locarno in bordering Switzerland, Luino, Laveno and keep some of your time to visit Santa Caterina Monastery in Leggiuno. If you want some nightlife, take an aperitif by the lake at Arona or Sesto Calende and then decide: stay in the surroundings or make a 30' ride to Milan and have some serious fun. In a range of 200m from the house you will find: Minimarket, Bar, Tobacco shop, Pizzeria, bakery, Bank with ATM, Post office, Doctor, bike repair shop. In a range of 1km there are restaurants with an excellent quality-price balance, as well as classy restaurants. NOTICE: I had some problems in the last months with my internet provider, so I changed it. The new internet service is now fully functional and works perfectly.
