An ideal space in our farmhouse for a family of 4-5, or friends, to enjoy. Meet the sheepdogs, help feed a pet lamb in the springtime, enjoy walks, cycling, horseback riding and so many outdoor pursuits all in this stunning countryside. Stabling available for 4 horses, parking space for trailers/boxes, washing facilities, secure area for bikes. History, culture, scenery, adventure, excitement - what stopping you? PLEASE NOTE: WE CAN ACCOMMODATE 5 GUESTS MAX. in 2 rooms. One room, 'The Ettrick', has the kingsize bed plus single bed, the other, 'The Yarrow', has twin beds. Enjoy a relaxing stay at our family farm in the picturesque Scottish Borders. Open the curtains to a stunning view of the surrounding gentle, rolling hills stretching away in the distance. Enjoy a hearty Scottish breakfast before exploring this interesting and diverse part of the UK, with so much to do and see. Our guests are welcome anytime after 3pm and before 7.30pm on day of arrival- or can be varied by prior agreement. Guests' cars are safely parked in enclosed garden area. In the long warm summer nights guests can enjoy sitting out on the patio. Access to the house is up a few steps, through the front door and into the conservatory. A cosy TV lounge on the ground floor can be enjoyed in the evenings, and for your convenience, apart from a kettle, there is a fridge, toaster and microwave. Both bedrooms are upstairs, with a shared shower room/WC and are separate from the main part of the farmhouse. The guests' quarters in our house is for their use only. As a host, I always try to welcome my guests, and be responsive to their needs if at all possible. Because I am one of a rare species that offers breakfast to Airbnb travellers, I will always be around to say 'farewell'. A great variety of outdoor pursuits and interests from genealogy, archaeology to hill climbing, horse racing and sailing to the famous mountain biking mecca of Glentress, can all be easily accessed from our farm. During the summer months our 'Borderlands' towns come alive with the 'Riding of the Marches' festivals -witness Europe's largest mounted cavalcade. Enjoy driving on our quiet roads and through stunning countryside. 'Sunnycroft Farmhouse' is very centrally situated, with four main Borders towns, Selkirk, Melrose, Galashiels and St Boswells, within a 10 minutes drive, and we are only half a mile from the main Carlisle-Edinburgh A7 trunk road. Both these cities are an hour’s drive away, or simply hop onto the service bus at the bottom of the hill. In September 2015 we celebrated the reopening of the Borders Railway link. A picturesque journey, conveying passengers between nearby Galashiels and Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh. Essentially, to gain the best experience from your visit to the Scottish Borders, you do require your own transport. There is, however, a regular bus service which would stop at the bottom of our hill, only half a mile from the farm, and there are links with the railway station, less than 3 miles away, which connects the Scottish Borders with Edinburgh.
