Le Domaine de Puget is beautiful and secluded 25 hectare private estate in the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees. It offers comfortable and generous accommodation for up to 16 guests, with exclusive use of the heated pool and extensive grounds. From the gardens, you enter the main house (about 450 sq m) through a pretty courtyard built in the local golden stone. Downstairs, there is a very large living room with an open fire and a library area, a separate stone dining room with another open fire, and a big well equipped kitchen, all with double doors onto the terrace or courtyard. Upstairs, there are 6 en suite bedrooms, simple but comfortable. Open fire places, wooden beams, tiled or wooden floors, fit well with our own more modern and uncluttered style. Le Puget is our own home and furnished and equipped to a high standard. Outside, the private terrace looks out over the valley below, our own wild flower meadows, sun flower and wheat fields, and oak woods. The views are lovely. There are gardens, an orchard, a 11m swimming pool with solar heating, a small lake, and covered parking. We have no immediate neighbours apart from the ancient Chateau next door; this is a tranquil and relaxed place to be. We can also offer you gourmet dining, extra housekeeping, and arrange bike hire, massages, horse rides, and other treats. There is a huge range of things to see and do within an hour in every direction. Our local town, Mirepoix, has one of the most lovely medieval town squares in France, cafes and restaurants and shops, and an excellent Monday market. Carcassonne is about 30 minutes, and you can see one of the Cathar castles in the Pyrenees from our land. Our guests have exclusive use of the heated pool, the gardens and orchard, the 25 hectares of open fields and pathways, our small lake, and all the facilities of the estate. We live on site and take pleasure in greeting you and showing you round, and will gladly talk you through the area, where to go and what to do, and local food and wine. Delicious dining available on site, locally sourced and organic when we can get it. This is old-fashioned rural France: a slow pace of life, good food and wine, wonderful scenery, and local towns left untouched for centuries. There is also a wide range of things to see and do within easy reach. Car essential. Toulouse airport and TGV train station is about an hour away, Carcassonne about 30 minutes. We provide all linen and bath / pool towels, and beds will be made for you when you arrive. We can arrange housekeeping and catering, and a range of other services.
