The apartment "Frantoio" was originally an oil-mill. The old stones of the oil mill have been preserved in the living-room. The space has been completely remodeled and transformed into a large, comfortable residence. Its owners live upstairs during the summer months (usually June-Sept.). Gagliato is a small hilltown village in the region of Calabria (400 meters elevation) 10 minutes away (by car) to the resort town of Soverato, overlooking the Ionian Sea. If you like to be away from the heat and the crowds, in a private, clean, cool and quiet rural setting, and yet be very close to both the crystal clear waters of the Ionian sea and the mountains in the Calabrian Apennine (30 mins. away), you will enjoy this place. There is the basic: a small supermarket, a bar/restaurant. More shopping options and attractions are in Soverato and, a little farther away, Catanzaro, the region's main city.
