Private log cabin just STEPS from your personal dock on the quiet, tree lined Brookhaven Lake. Queen size bed in upstairs loft, Queen size bed in lower lever and Full size daybed on the 3 season porch PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO TV SERVICE IN THE COTTAGE - WIRELESS INTERNET IS PROVIDED FOR YOU TO STREAM MOVIES AND MUSIC ON YOUR DEVICES The Brookfield's are quiet bedroom communities. A few local places exist but major eating and entertainment experiences are 30 min away (Northampton/Worcester) This is an adorable little cabin that has been lovingly redesigned and recreated. It is an open floor plan. Upstairs the simple loft has been converted into a bedroom with a half bath. On the main floor you will enjoy an open, modern kitchen allowing you to cook, entertain and chat with everyone in the living room and even view the lake while your doing the dishes! Downstairs is the washer and dryer as well as an additional sleeping area. Three seasons out of the year you will be able to enjoy an enclosed sun porch for lounging and relaxing. Just off the side of this porch you can have your morning tea on a lovely outdoor deck while you watch the sun come over the lake. In the evening you can enjoy your beverages as the sun sets on the lower level patio - lighting the cottage in it's magnificent glow. With southern exposure you will have sun the entire day. PLEASE NOTE : In the fall season we have electric heat in the house (not the porch) and a wood burning stove in the living room to keep you warm but the lower level can still be chilly. You will have access to the entire house, washer and dryer, canoe, paddle board, kayak, and dock. You will not have access to the garage area or studio attached to the garage or the Artist Studio located inside the vintage camper. Owners may be onsite during your visit using these spaces. The cottage sits at the end of the property down by the lake and you will have the entire house and lakeside to yourselves. Owners have small living quarters attached to the garage as well as a small workshop. There is also an Artist Studio located in a Vintage Camper located up by the garage. These spaces are completely separate from the cottage you rent. Owners may be up top living/working during your stay. The Brookfields (from the web page 'browse the brookfields" History Fact: Brookfield was first settled in 1664 and was officially incorporated in 1718. The town was settled by men from Ipswich as part of the Quabog Plantation lands, though the settlers would be temporarily removed from the lands by attacks during King Philip's War. During the winter of 1776, General Henry Knox passed through the town on his way to Boston with cannon from Fort Ticonderoga to end the Siege of Boston. A marker lies along Route 9 to commemorate the route. The lands of the town have given rise to three other Brookfields - North Brookfield in 1812, West Brookfield in 1848, and East Brookfield in 1920 Hiking trails abound, leading with Rock House Reservation less than a mile down Route 9 and then swing by the best little bakery in the Brookfields (Rose32) for breakfast or lunch and bring a delicious treat home !! (URL HIDDEN) ************ IMPORTANT ************* West Brookfield is considered a bedroom community - and as such you will not find much "night -life" in town. We do have a few local favorite spots 5-15 minutes from the house but they are pretty low key. 30 minutes in either direction takes you to funky Northampton or the revitalized city of Worcester for food and fun There is no public transportation so you will need your own car while staying at our cottage. The house is on a well paved road that is beautifully maintained. The house is very 'open'. The upstairs bedroom has no door but is visually cut off from the rest of the house by the half wall of the staircase which we refer to as the Juliet Balcony. The lower level is also visually protected by the positioning of the staircase. Although there is het downstairs, it's not as warm as the rest of the house - we also provide you with a portable electric heater for extra warmth if you need it (please keep this unplugged while you are not in the room!) This lake is unique in that it is not fully developed, but rather acres of wooded lots giving you a quiet little respite in a busy, busy world. There are no motors allowed on the lake so you will hear the birds sing and be able to let your mind wander! PLEASE NOTE : THERE IS NO TV SERVICE IN THE COTTAGE - WIFI is available for you to stream music and videos on phones and laptops Window AC's are only in available in the loft bedroom and the main floor -There is no central air. Fans are available throughout the space - House is really not suitable for children under the age of 10 We have a no pet policy Additional guests must be approved by owner in advance
